Physical grain has dropped £13/t since last Thursday, ex farm for Lincs. It's hardly a calamity.

Asked in January and they still had 40 % to sell so hopefully will drag up average price.

Its he other way round down here, lots of demand for barley, not much for wheat

I agree, I don't think wheat got to £350 properly it was India and it basically hoovered around £335. I think it was overstretched, then there was an oversell and then it's gained a little back. The ukraine export 'arrangements' have just fuelled it a bit.

Tbh I only really look at may 23 now. It was £340 last Thursday. £326 today.

I said it would hit £300 about 3 years ago. It’ll now hit £400 and I’m saying by this time next year at the latest. To many negative stories regarding stocks, weather restrictions to plantings and demand increases to keep the price down. Sit tight I say. Sold a couple of loads last week for June collection (already been collected though) for £365. Think we’ll carry the rest into the next financial year.

Correct,mine clearance will take months to sort.Insurance premiums on vessels transporting the grain will also have a bearing on the success or failure,it all has to be costed in.

I can’t imagine America will be too happy if their futures takes a big hit because Russia gets its way. It may be a European problem but it will cost USA what ever happens.

How much are you carrying over? 5t or 500t.

Or is next financial year 1st July?

According to Liz Truss they will stand firm regarding sanctions on Russia so is Putin going to open up a wheat corridor I doubt it?

The Russians know the west will cave first, people cannot put on another jumper or do with out. The Russians over the years have shown they will do, unfortunately it’s a game of who goes the longest and one I cannot see the west being prepared to stomach

Suspect the West thought this would be over by now . could last years .
Reliably informed yesterday that the chances of wheat leaving Odessa are nil , nowt zip .

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question , but are the corridors for Ukrainian wheat to be allowed out with payment to the Ukrainians or for stolen Ukraine wheat to be allowed out to elevate food shortages with payment to the Russians if buyers are prepared to break sanctions?

But that would be a bit difficult if the ports are controlled by russia. So it begs the question is the ukrainian wheat being sold, seeing the money going to ukraine or to the russian theives.

You can't expect Russia to just let this stuff out for free. Oil exports down ten percent. Price up more. Rouble record strenth. Word is that russian troops are outnumbering 10:1 on the ground. 10000 ukrainian pows now.

You will see world politicians start to suggest to zelensky to stop the fighting.

The world cannot afford to give Russia, more power by Ukraine been invaded. Any peace will only be for Putin to re arm. Putin's troops will have to be beaten back to Feb 24 borders as a min.

I totally agree with not allowing Russians to profit from stolen grain.

But surely Ukraine should be given lots of help to bring out as much grain as possible, via Poland & Romania.

Really fed up with western weakness, we should be helping Ukraine much more than we are. A bit of hardship now is far better than what will come in the years & decades in the future.
