Deutz 8280 - The worse purchase of my life!!!

Think you'll find the same gearbox is fitted to axion 870 cmatic, which is circa 290hp, so there isn't a problem with Deutz torque through it.

The usual reason for hydrostat cavitation is improper shutdown. They need to idle stationary or they'll be starved of oil and will need to purge after next startup (as it will state in the owner manual, same as letting the turbos on it slow down before switching off ?). You'll have noticed hellish vibrations/juddering trying to pull away, and even when stationary?

Presumably the dealer fitted new door handle tubes to the one piece (frameless) glass doors? They can be twisted trying to haul them shut in a temper, but slight misalignment from the factory is also a well known fault to rectify at PDI. Usually the only issue if missed is a wee leak in the seal. It takes some force to break the things though doesn't it!

Why do Deutz UK say there's no problem if the dealer has rebuilt two already, and you reckon the third gearbox is about to "let go"? There's either a problem mechanically, or a problem with how they're driven. If Deutz UK say there isn't a problem, are they fixing them under warranty, or have they washed their hands of them?

I realise you've started the threads to stir up some shyte, just curious what you're hoping to achieve if you manage? Deutz buy them back off you, or help to trade in against something else? Tricky if Deutz reckon it's abuse and not a design fault?
@DrDunc

The Axion range of tractors has the ZF transmission

Gearbox built by Claas Industrietechnik at Paderborn, same as fitted to axion. Deutz fit it to their own transaxle, assembled at the Deutz factory in Lauingen.

So what are Deutz UK saying is the reason for all your failures?
Just be sure of this before you start chucking false information around

Now now

You've joined this forum for the sole purpose of stirring shyte about tractors you're not happy with

You've posted a couple of vague "bugger me but they're bad" posts pertaining to what appears to be several quite spectacular transmission failures

You've not responded to questions asking what you actually want to achieve from gathering information off this public forum

You've exhibited a good grasp of a possible failure mode involving alleged cavitation, but without providing any evidence that you are correct

You've not yet received any other truly horrific stories of devastation and destruction of not even yearling age 8280 brake and gearbox failures

Perhaps you will hear, and you're not alone in what is obviously an unpleasant predicament, but you're not being open and honest about the details of the failures, and whether it boils down to flaws in the design, or flaws with the operators

Donald Trump clearly demonstrated that online truth is only who can chuck the most, the fastest, and the loudest. Good luck getting something out of Deutz UK

To be fair if 2 out of 4, less than a year old tractors have had gearboxes and there's been other problems, I don't blame him for a teddy chuck.
Details seem to be a bit lacking at the moment. As for hearing from others with similar problems I'd say its unlikely that they're very common in the UK.
He's a brave fella buying 4 relatively untested and rare tractors.

Mate's just bought brand new one, I'll let you know how it goes

Martin S?

Trailers have been on a rolling road and meet HGV spec not BAGMA. They stop the tractors. These tractors are so unreliable it’s untrue

I would be interested to know who told you this, as BAGMA do not have a ‘standard’. There is the government requirement for slow moving ag vehicles, and a government requirement for fast ag vehicles, which is the same as the HGV standards.
The BAGMA test is capable of measuring both standards, to the same if not better accuracy.
The only difference I can think of between modern ag high speed trailers and HGV is that ag trailers tend to have ‘spring on’ brakes, do your trailers have these?

Our agrotron was a good tractor. Brilliant engine loads of torque.

M620 we have now has been good. Nobody wants to drive it. Sits on mixer wagon all winter and goes on drier at harvest. Terrible engine, no torque. No brakes. Very light on backend. Lift setup over complicated.
Ours was a 110, but pulled like a 150hp tractor.

Not the most humble apology I've heard.
What? You've not heard our esteemed prime minister apologising for misleading parliament, lying to the nation, and breaking all his own Covid restrictions by organising weekly party pissups?

Not that's hearing an apology that lacks humility!

If it turns out that the new Deutz gearbox has a serious design flaw that was missed during their very extensive pre-production testing and development, and it turns out that owners of other 8280's have suffered such catastrophic failures, then yes, a different "apology" might be deemed appropriate for incorrectly asserting claas fit their in house hybrid planetary drive hydrostatic transmission to the axion(!)

I doubt if it'll make @Shitshifter or Kylie from banks farmers feel any happier about the troubles they're having with their tractors though?

If it's a design flaw, Same Deutz Fahr will be living in the workshop beside these failed tractors to ensure their new released model design isn't also an abject failure, surely? There's much more to this story than we're being told, and for attempting to learn more, I make no apology whatsoever
