Deutz 8280 - The worse purchase of my life!!!

Iron 150. I just checked the plate again, at the top on one side it says something along the lines of "Made by SAME Deutz Fahr Treviglio Italy etc etc" with a big SAME logo in the middle, then on the other side it says "Lauingen Germany".

Built (and painted) in Germany and assembled in Italy maybe?
My apologies.. Iron 150 was indeed built in Germany... everything up to 130 built in Treviglio

SDF Same Deutz Fhar is based in Germany that’s where the parts come from
Not sure where they are assembled
The gearbox and axles and drive train are ZF
SDF are headquartered in Treviglio just east of Milan... parts distribution is from the old Lauingen plant, an hour north of Munich just across the road from the new Deutz Fahr tractor plant.. larger 6, 7, 8, 9 series built in Germany... smaller tractors up to 130hp, including 5 series built in Italy
ZF transmission plant is in Passau about a hour north west of Munich

I had lots of niggly problems with my NH T7210 with less than 800 hrs on the clock, whereas my Deutz has been fine.
luck of the draw I think sometimes .

Everything has problems, incidentally T7s seem to have their share around here but the 210 is a popular model so law of averages etc etc
I have had that many problems with my NH8040 that I will never buy another NH ( which is a shame, as my 8970 Genesis it replaced was probably the best tractor I’ve ever had ) . . .
and it’s not like they are a popular model here, Case & JD vastly outnumber them many times over

We had a brilliant Deutz dealer for about two years, then Deutz pulled the plug on them and now there are a pile of tractors with no dealer back up.
David Jones ( Out at Withybush ) sold them during the late 1970's, finished, and left a pile of tractors in Pembs, D6806's etc with no backup. OJ Williams took over for a while, same thing happened, and now this.:banghead:

Them "agrotron" cabs have been around for over 30 years, they've got their faults, but self destructing doors isn't one of them

The Vario gearbox in the 8280 Deutz is built by claas, and fitted to their tried, tested, and proven 800 axion

The multidisc brakes in the Deutz transaxle are one of the most robust designs of any brand on the market, and have a longevity the likes of CNH (for example) can only aspire to

Perhaps @Shitshifter could tell us a bit more of their troubles?
dont valtra break down ? one sold here locally at auction about a year ago needing work on a gear box after already having work down , neighbour of owner told me , could be true or not but you see quite afew T series valtras on ebay with gearbox rebuilds https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324788108449?hash=item4b9ee13ca1:g:m-kAAOSw0FlhPwcq heres one here for ya £28000 grand been spent on the tractor !

I think it’s the nail in the coffin for Deutz in our area. The local contractor that was running the ‘black warrior’ edition managed 1800 hours in 3 years after consistent breakdowns,it was pushed on to a boat and has left the country now.

Would you go back to a genesis 8970?

Made by versatile now?

from what I understand, yes, they were built in the old Versatile factory ( probably why they were so good ), which was then bought by Buhler
You can’t buy a new Genesis anymore, at least not here.
New Versatiles of an equivalent size do look good, basically a component tractor with Cummins engine, Dana ( I think ) front axle etc etc. Basic, not overly complicated tractor.
