Diesel UTV MPG

I currently do about 13k miles per year currently on a Honda 520 which is shocking on petrol.
Im thinking about getting a diesel UTV and probably will end up doing 20k miles per year.
Does anyone actually know what MPG they do? It’s becoming more relevant with the price of red these days.

Corvus does just under a litre of red per clock hour ( I never remember to set the trip to record miles per tankful 😖)
That’s steep ground and a mix of on and off road often towing a snacker or a swaledale type sheep trailer

How do you like the Corvus, and do you find it powerful enough for towing on hills?

Out of interest have you worked out the mpg of the Honda. Last time I worked out mine it was 14 doing 50% towing but I don’t think it really means anything. Too many variables. Fuel used a day would be the only way to give an idea.
Convert the quad to LPG?
Fuel use won’t be the top reason to change to a utv. Love mine (it’s petrol) but kept the quad as well. It’s a very personal/situation choice.
Demo is the only way to see if it suits.

I like it , it will hold 40mph on the flat but hills knock it back ( steep main road with snacker ) down to 20-25 mph
I haven’t got stuck yet and we have steep rushy moorland
It seems to find grip , downside.. the rear bed is a little high ( think chucking a ewe in ) , for the price it’s noisy and in 6 months I’ve had to have a new seat (warranty) as the original one split .

If you’re doing 20k miles a year in a utv then you are going to end up with some pretty big repair bills compared to a quad!

Reckoned up a few years ago my diesel Polaris was saving me £2000+ a year on fuel. It’s probably 3k now with the price it is. Fag packet calculation at lambing time was £10 a day. (averaging 50 mile a day) Quad would have been £30+ And you get wet and cold 🙄

Unbelievable how much less petrol we use on the quads. Used to go through 25 litres/day for over a month with the quads over lambing, now closer to 12 litres/day as the Polaris does all the further afield ground

Buying the first one is painful but after that the saving on petrol pays to change it every 2 years. the last 3 I’ve changed have been 6-7.5k to change at 2.5 years old with 16-18k miles on.

Is a lot of your miles on roads? If the majority of the work is road work you don’t need worry about repairs. It’s flogging them round rough rushy pastures and moorland that hammers the suspension. The new ones are prity bombproof now.

A mate has borrowed our old kioti whilst his quads getting repaired, he said apart from the noise it’s grand …. Until you get on the moor , them big clumpy rushes knock seven bells out of you

Yea it was doing 15mpg with no towing, just checking stock. Never worked it out with the trailer but it’s a lot worse.
I’d keep the bike as well.

Many moons ago, I did a lot of LGP spraying here, using a Grizzly 600 and a Logic tandem axle bogey with a 600l/12m boom.

Loved the power and ability to pull on heavy and sticky ground. BUT, the consumption my Dears. It drank like an alcoholic....! Around 8-10MPG on a good day.

i swapped to a 400 Eiger, and consumption doing the same job halved. I always wondered if it was the CVT versus teh suzuki manual box, but never sure.
