With the greatest respect, idealistic thinking springs to mind, unless he has direct contacts with Putins adviser. If he got it the info from the media , take it with a pinch of salt, and can he post the media article he got his post idea from.
All sounds very matter of fact to me.

I agree with your sentiments.

To be honest anything is better than farmers worldwide, profiteering by some poor individuals short of food.I say that as a retired farmer, it would be on my conscience if I made a huge profit at the expense of some individuals dying because of lack of food because of my greed.
Other TFF members may beg to differ.

over thinking -bit of napalm and burn the lot with the wind in the right direction
Doesn’t even need that, a few tracer rounds will set it going if it’s dry.
No that is permanent damage.

The point I'm making is that if Russia targets growing crops.

The west should turn off any agricultural equipment it has in Russia. Then it can be turned back on, if russia stops targetting crops.

Ruthless barstewards only understand force.

Things were much tougher after WW2, and people survived. I dont agree with you at all, I for one am fed up of feeling that our industry is looked down upon, barely surviving on the meagre handouts of the government, blamed for all the world's ills such as climate change and pollution. Food has been too cheap for decades. People make their own choices as to whether to prioritise food to eat or less "essential" goods. I bet everyone who has moaned about not being able to afford food has a mobile phone.
Thanks but no thanks, you can claim greed all you like, but the far greedier stockbrokers determine produce price, not the farmers, and if you had been a farmer you would know we are all price takers not price makers.

Just seen on the news, it is expected that people will spend an estimated £2bn THIS WEEKEND, in pubs and eateries, £400m more than usual, with people spending that much money in a single weekend, it could be asked WHAT cost of living crisis..... the one blown out of proportion bythe media, mostly.

Don't really see how this can be misinterpreted, it seems pretty clear to me......
"To be honest anything is better than farmers worldwide, profiteering by some poor individuals short of food"
I'm saying farmers are not profiteering. Whilst bankers and lawyers, politicans etc all made millions, farmers were derided, and blamed for everything, and hiw dare farmers make a profit! We are entitled to make money, just so happens that those claiming that there is a cost if living/food crisis are also happy to indulge themselves with expensuve but non essential stuff.
So if you worded it badly, what were you actually trying to say, MX7?

There are people genuinely struggling to buy food and pay energy bills and they should get all the help they need. But there are far too many falling into the category cos they have spent their money on non essentials and have only spent a few quid left over at the end of the week on food, rather than prioritise , this will have to change but it ain’t going to happen quickly.

Careful now. Life's essentials are food shelter and warmth. Only two of these the govt deems to help it's citizens by providing money - rents and fuel rise and govt chucks money. Food rises and they do anything to keep it cheap.

It's sad times when food only becomes important when white folk start dying - or rather when Tesco says bread is going up 5p.

This is merely a catch up. Food is underpriced and farmers are undervalued. There's a reason UK farmers are averaging over 60. How many UK growers are actually pensioners who have to keep going while the masses are retiring in their 50s.

There's no shame in making money from food. It's high time food production displaced Apple airpods as the seasons "must have".

I should have said “starving to death”as opposed to short of food . A big difference my mistake, matter closed.

When the people interviewed claiming to be missing meals because they can’t afford food actually look like they aren’t eating then I will believe them. Every one under 50 years old I’ve seen on the tv so far would be classed as clinically obese at a doctors. If pink hair and multi coloured nails come before feeding your kids there is no sympathy from me

The price of nitrogen will have more effect on food availability, and the makers of that dont seem to worry and are actively pricing it according to demand and not cost of production.

You’re right, guy in mid 70’s lives in the village, retired at 47 from an oil industry job.

Hasn‘t worked a day since and has probably climbed most mountains in the country as that is his passion.

Cant be right for society that sort of thing.
