Fowrass concertina sheep hurdle

The problem is when they see that they are heading in to pens, and then they slam the anchors on.

My neighbour has pens running up hill and when the ewes break back they get a bit of speed up and clear the gates and are of into the fields, much to my amusement.
Gathering pen made out of pallets, with pallet gate. They see it as a fence with a gap in it and run in, especially if corned in there previously. Once inside, a way of funnelling them into a "trombone" arrangement. Pallet gate needs to be high, as once they know that's the way in they'll try and jump it to get out.

Had some race panels off him a few years ago which have lasted well but not built to the same standard as Bateman ones. Didn’t have any race joiners to go with them though. FB messaged them last year regarding cattle hurdles and all they wanted to sell me was a complete sy

I got these one from Mick and I love them.

They're tallest hurdles I have used and because they have the sledge ends they don't sink into the ground, but they still drag over rough ground well, even better than ones with a full bar along the ground, I find they catch on any bumps or clumps of rushes or grass.

Not as heavy as a lot of gates but certainly aren't going to spring or bend.

I tried the concertina ones but they are a bugger on uneven ground and I end up unpinning them anyway.

I won't tell you what I paid for them but definitely a lot less than the price listed above, Mick at MW is also good for a bit of price reductions.

I got some stuff from him as well. Well made and good to deal with.

He is and the stuff is good, just a shame he isn't selling more. It's the price of IAE's lightweight crap but 3 times the quality.

Not sure if people see the price and think it must be low quality.

I got him to make a handling trailer that raises and lowers with a hydraulic pump and has a narrow race for foot bathing and a wide race for dosing. Absolutely love it.

Just on with thinking of making something similar for myself.

I've made the rappa type yard and hurdles but I don't think its as versatile as this type.

Thinking wide and narrow race as the above but with integrated infloor weigh scales and draft gate at the front of the narrow race. Maybe locking head yoke also.

Those MW 8ft hurdles look handy enough. could make your own joiners to make them concertina.

What weight will they be. just wondering how much stuff you could get in before brakes are required?

I put 12 of the gates on and probably over 750kg but only ever on back roads. The trailer without gates is definitely under. Not sure you could make the hydraulic lift and lower with brakes.

I am still trying to figure out how to get the weigh crate incorporated without too much hassle. Just make a pen out the back at the moment but would be better if I could get it on the trailer somehow.

You could make a ramp and do away with the raise and lower function but it makes loading and unloading sheep and gates so much easier.

It's a Border Software weigh crate I have which is also brilliant. Lightweight as the weigh cells are on the top instead of heavy load cells underneath and the top is totally open for tagging or checking the lambs back cover without hands getting rattled against any mechanisms over the top.
