if l was ever lucky enough to have 7 million, would it be the best idea, to invest in farming ?
l would, but that's me, hard hearted, and sane reasoning, might tell us, its not a good idea. Owning the land is, farming it, not so sure.
Sod the farm, would be buying fast cars and fast women šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

l'd never catch the fast women, and a fast car, would likely end up, with a cow sat on the bonnet.
Farming's a funny trade to be in, it sort of grabs you, and won't let go.
Cousin always say's, farming is a way of life, but only if it pays. Lot of ignored truth in that.
I think with 7million the fast woman won't take much catching

These equipped units look much better value than buying an arable farm and building a new unit
Whoā€™s buying them in general tho. Iā€™m struggling to see where borrowing Ā£2+ million to milk 200 cows works. The one with H and H needs rented acres to make it stack up to employ 1 full time man.

Even a lottery win isn't enough for some farms now!
you mean, my Ā£25 from premium bonds, won't go far ?
land prices are pretty scary, unless you are selling. Ā£18/20,000 acre on some, around us, all non farming money, and buying all he can, up near 2,000 acres now, probably more.

Bad news your landlord would probably be better off selling to him with you as a sitting tenant than selling to yoursleves. And he could then play the long game

Exactly.Where is the rest of the land? Or do you just bid stupid money to rent every available adjoining acre. Doesnt look as if slurry/muck storage would pass Environment agency/Ded Tractor either.
Article in FW a while back, 40ha farm carrying 180 cows and 170 followers. Thought it was a typo.
