Its certainly very dry, although I dont think its terrible yet. If we get nothing this weekend, then two more weeks of heat then there will be issues.
Yep. Wheat is just starting to stress here. Neighbours beans are going yellow.
Barley and rape are pretty much set now so wont affect them. Spring crops will be sh!t if it doesn’t rain.

Bit cooler up here though, so transpiration rates will be a bit lower. 👍

One thing's for sure, it'll rain when you don't want it to...

That's the concerning thing. With no rain forecast in next ten days, there isn't much time left for useful rain before harvest.

Open golf is at St Andrews next month. So guaranteed rain, wind and sea haar for a week. ☹️

I think it’s just sunshine we need here , crops look well and had enough moisture .
been an overcast June and some decent sun wouldn’t go amiss

What a difference a short distance makes. Desperate for rain here, but everything to play for if it does (although a thunderstorm will flatten the promising looking Winter Barley crops).
Some of the beet is still emerging, filling a few of the gaps in. That which has emerged is wanting a good drink to get it established properly. Spring barley had a bit of rain a few weeks back to get it going (& tillering) but tips of leaves still yellow from stress.

I hope it’s like 2018. So easy. Small grains of wheat but good bushel, not pinched pink shite.
My spring beans look excellent but need moisture or they’ll suffer soon. Hay down and nearly but not quite ready. The weather gods are struggling to find a way to punish me. Rain on the hay and help the crops or stay dry and have perfect hay but damage the crops.

All to play for here, had an inch beginning of last week.

it will rain next week as I have the balance of my grass to cut and bale as been away all week. Then I am away most of the following 2 so will be good again :)

That’s surprising as I thought you would’ve had pretty much the same as us .

Ah, you are following the same plan as me. Everything can’t go t*ts up at once.👍

I wasn’t brave enough to cut my very young, green hay though, so that’s not spoiling if it rains, just the Winter Barley. Crows are already starting on it, so I guess they’d appreciate it made easier for them.😡
In hindsight, I should have cut the lightest 5ac field of hay, but likely to get more heat yet. It’s only June.
