If under a certain amount of sheep say-30 should it then be a Higher fee per head to make the journey worthwhile or instead changed to an hourly rate, possibly due to the fact that because they have a smaller number to do they might be worse than normal feet because they havnt been done meaning they will take longer to do?

or do it in ranks i.e
under 10
under 20
under 30
under 40
under 50
Then -> over 50 =set price per head

Best market would be smallholder as sheep husbandry advice, as suggested above.

But if you're set on feet only then you'll need to target the dairies. Goat and sheep dairies need feet trimming because of the high protein feed and limited walking they do.

It isnt really recommended practice to trim sheeps feet nowadays so could you offer another service to go alongside the trimming so as to get on farm.
For 50p per head could you turn every ewe up and inspect its feet, trim any that need it and while they are turned up shear them?🤔

Why not set up a consultancy service.
We no longer trim sheep's feet, just cull the serious offenders.
Some people have CODD problems and don't know it!!

Rams are probably the worst as they never get looked at.

Much easier giving advice than trimming feet and probably more useful to the Hobby brigade.
A sheep consultancy service set up by someone who was trying to set up a sheep feet trimming business because they didn’t know that it’s the opposite of current veterinary best practice.

Who the f*ck trims sheep’s feet these days ?

A young girl is prepared to do a days work and is looking for a way to make a living in livestock and asked a simple question without offending anyone.

I know you have your issues, but you really are nice encouraging guy

Having done some quick googling, diary goats need feet trimmed every 2-8 weeks depending on breed and diet.

I imagine dairy sheep won't be that different.

There are some large (1000+) goat dairies. They may have in house staff to do it, but if you can offer an efficient and effective service you might get an in. Once you do a good job with one, the others may follow. I'm sure it's a very small world.

Yer, probably not very well phrased.

Didn't realise she was "a young girl" and not sure if thats relevant.

The post wasn't actually aimed at her, more the person who suggested "well the foot trimming business is a non starter, so maybe just go into farm consultancy" . . . . really?

And yes, I have more issues than a magazine collector.

The biggest being that I have come to realise that most people are full of sh*t.

As I've been such an arsehole - ill throw in something nice. If you want to look into dairy sheep and large sheep dairy, then most are based in Dorset, and the man you want to speak to is the guru of milking sheep - Yoav Alony - Gilboa who is an Israeli sheep vet and the Uks leading authority on all things milking sheep. He works for Friars Moor vets.
