10 replacements arrived on Saturday night to replace 5 lost to tb this spring and few culls. Much later than I’d like but will keep things ticking along.
Luckily we just gone clear with tb but it’s annoying. We are 12 years no confirmed cases but keep having blips with reactors.
Just done a deal on the 30 lim/blue calves here and fixed price for rest of the years at £270 and £330 same as last year, to go at 3 weeks old.

And my answer to £1.20 red diesel is to use the tractor with a 30 litre tank.

That the scraper tractor?
This is the scraper tractor but Deutz is backup if needed. Usually carries milk around and newborn calves in from field. Spreads bit of fertiliser if I just got odd field, moves water cart from few scrappy woods I graze sometimes.
feeds pheasant and log splitter. Just a nice little run around and at 55hp it’s fairly capable for its size.

Is your average cull price more than an imported IC heifer? Cant be far away?

No my culls haven’t been up to heifer price. heifers are £250 more than they were 5 years ago, but quite a few of the culls that have had 4/5 calves have made pretty close to what they cost.
Remember despite big cows and good grades they are classed as non farm assured as they have foreign tags.
