Yes after a bit of a palava including arriving yesterday to find another exhibitor on “our stand” (double booked!) we are in and right up the east end unfortunately but next door to Landrover. Trouble is not too many farmers buy LR these days. However we are delighted to be in the show for the very first time as SIP UK! SIP UK ready for the off tomorrow morning

Buggers get 50k a year and dont even have to steer them , just throttle n go .

I know a train driver, they do all the routine maintenance/repairs on their trains. Do all safety checks before leaving station. Couple/uncouple all carriages and make sure everything is right

The 'driving' bit is the easy part... they also get f**k all support after someone throws themselves into their path

Fair enough , will more money change this ? Will Another few pounds make it better when someone jumps in front of them. How much do you they are worth ?

I get so fed up over the years of these negotiations 'breaking down', then both sides blaming each other.

I think the negotiations should be live streamed. Nowhere to hide and would probably be sorted in a week.

It's the train passengers who are going to have to pay for any rise, so let them see who has their best interests at heart.

Probably not. But that's not actually what the strike is about.

I didn't know the story down South but up here there's been a real lack of investment (before it got renationalised, but it's coming out now as to how bad it is) - trains just aren't fit for purpose is the main reason they get cancelled. Staff shortages, too - expecting drivers to work 12hr shifts with no days off and only the minimum 12hrs 'off' between shifts... this has been going on, for well over a year and the employers don't seem to be making any effort to find solutions
