It’s frazzled my head what management tool to use. Every salesman saying there product is the best. Literally iv decided on cow manager tags, then the smaxtech bolus turned my head, now deciding the allflex collars. Heeds been bashed just wanting the best system! Any advice.
The collars iv worked out is almost half the price of the bolus

I was totally sold with the tags, as in where do I sign, then the next fella comes then the next and iv just been confused. @farmboy what was the brand of collar? Tags a lot cheaper, as in the 10-15k mark collars 30k mark then boluses 50k region

It was a fabdec heat time system. We had 300 cows and only like 200 collars so we’re always taking them off stale cows and putting them back on fresh calvers. The collars were just a pain in the arse to adjust to fit each cow properly especially once they’d become a bit worn and got full of dust and crap. This was nearly 15 years ago mind they might have moved on since. I haven’t had much experience recently been using scratch cards!! Did have auto ID on last parlour which relied on ear tags and can’t recall a cow losing one.

I wouldn’t be wanting to shift collars all the time, I’d be having the collar on the same cow until she’s gone. Save a bit of money mind you changing the collars !

Absolute PITA without a collar a cow. Will go onto our third collar based system shortly, SCR the first couple of times, the second LD system has been superb, AFI the third time after being promised good things from Boumatic and then letting us and a few other farmers down.
