State of your crops -2022

You had more rain than some years? Or the cereals been irrigated?
Amazingly I am surrounded by water on three sides of me and I am unable to obtain an abstraction licence. None of our own crops are watered but we seem to have had just enough rain at the right time this year but only just in time for the winter barley. The easier autumn last year was a big help with crops getting off to a good start and never really looking back. Wheat Barley and Spring Oats all grown for seed on a neighbouring farm have been expensively watered and look extremely well indeed, particularly the oats.
Unless you are on very thin land or are producing seed crops you must do your sums before watering cereals even at today's predicted prices.
The rain did not come soon enough for the spring barley in our area and will be no more than average or just below at best. I have yet to see a promising field of spring barley but I don't go far. What are your predictions?.

Well on a trip down the country and stuff is certainly a lot drier on the m62 and m18 quite a bit of wheat loosing its colour. Once you get onto the m1 all the way down to Northampton and the a43 so far stuff seems a lot greener with more grass about.

We’re probably 10 days away from starting winter barley, would be less if it had carried on as hot and dry as it has been this week! Looking like the weathers turning now though just as stuff is coming ready #WetHarvest 🤦🏻‍♂️
