DMax vs Hilux

Customer comes in with several vehicles towing trailers including his new Defender SWB. Last time a new Hilux pickup . He’s got older L200 and Isuzu. Surprised me when he said the Hilux was pretty gutless
Wonder was it the 2.4 he had?

I ordered a new Hilux couple of months ago with CLA 15% discount off list ; Active double cab . They said 12 to 14 months wait, but could be earlier as the usual supply to Russia had been suspended. But I’m prepared to wait .
On paper it looks a better deal than the ridiculously overpriced second hand ones I had been looking at. But time will tell…….

I have a 65 plate Dmax base model for towing as fed up with using FWD vans on heavy trailers. Not had a 4x4 for a few years but used to have a 57 Ranger and a 300tdi disco before that…. D-max is by far the best truck as long as it’s got a bit of weight in the back. I’d have bought a brand new one with Auto if I could but you can’t get an extended cab with Auto option as far as I’m aware— only on the double cabs with all the toys which I don’t want.

I saw on Facebook last week that Isuzu have launched an extended cab with auto box. Trek Trucks Sheffield have one in stock

Aha-that’s the next one sorted then! Hopefully my 65plate will live on a while yet, only does about 8000 a year and has 109 on the clock so fingers crossed. Had it a year and zero issues so far. Very different experience from land rover ownership 😂
