Stand in footbath solutions for scald

After an awful year last yr we have made a proper big footbath with drain back. To be honest scald isn't too bad at the moment as we have no grass and it's been so dry.
What's the best solution for keeping on top of things?
I think we have some goldenhoof and this yellow stuff I can't remember the name of.
Any suggestions? As above it's more than big enough to stand a lot of sheep in for a good soak for as long as needs be. Not a walk through type.
Thanks

If you can stand them in it, Zinc Sulphate is the daddy. If it’s a permanent footbath, it doesn’t get weaker if it’s left either, it just gets more concentrated as the water evaporates.

I think it was Moredun that had a big permanent bath, where they just tested the strength and topped up as necessary. Supposedly it isn’t affected by ‘organic matter’ either, but not long how thick a soup it can become and still work?

A quick Google for unbranded Zinc Sulphate brings up not much. And happy hoof at around £40 ish from mole Valley.

Used too use straight formalin. Swapped too CZF now at 3-5%. Don’t stand them in it, but walk them through it 3 times before turn out.
I’ve never been convinced by stand in footbaths. I’ve seen them at mates and the lame lambs dip the scald hoof in once then stand with it up under their belly. If they walk gently through it goes down 5/6 times over the length of the bath. Good long bath is the best I’ve found. 8ft with weak solution then 10ft bath with standard concentration.

25’ bath here, not many can hold it out for that long.

I agree nice long narrow bath so the can’t turn and follow there mate through quietly.. I put sheep’s fleeces in the baths too and they walk nicely through it… I have 3 seperate footbath sections first 1 is just clean water then solution in last 2

When I use a ‘stand in’ bath, they only hold their foot out if I use formalin. With Zinc Sulphate (or anti-biotics when we were allowed🤐) they were quite happy to stand properly. Soothing rather than stinging perhaps?

I normally just use a narrow walk through bath with Formalin though.

I use cow footbaths, trying too get hoggs or store lambs too walk single file when they’ve never seen footbath before was a nightmare. I find if they can walk through 2 wide it stops that idiot one reversing and stopping everything. Old bloke that used too feed thousands not far from here told me too put a roof over the bath too stop reflections, then I think it was Neilo who mentioned about throwing fleeces in as well. Now it works like a treat!
