4610 gear problem

My 4610 sometimes jumps out of gear going down hill, especially if I have a bit of a load on.
I am going to leave it away to get fixed but am wondering if the cab will have to come off for the fix?
If it does is it a major job? And when the cab is off is there any other jobs / maintenance I should be looking at when it is off?

Now Then..
What cab do you have?? Most jobs are easier with the cab off and out of the way. However, it depends how much work there is to get it off.
I assume your tractor will need to be split for such a repair..

It has the AP cab on it.
I haven't spoken to mechanic yet I'm just trying to work out what I should tackle along with the gear problem if tractor is being split.

Rubic cube, could be weak selector rod spring or more likely synchro worn, spring done from top off cab on but box out if not, can leave cab on which is what i did if farm job, special tool to lock top of box or one can be made, without it you will be lucky to get all gears when top put on.

No the reason the box has to come out is some selector rods are removed from rear and some shafts, i don't know what is still available if selector because Fords changed the shift pattern to a more normal; H pattern which meant changing at least one selector, if your one is H it may be ok.
