Krone big M

What is lucerne? Can it be grown in damp climates like we have in ireland

It's a legume a bit like red clover that makes it's own nitrogen but it much prefers drier conditions and free draining soils. It might work for areas of Ireland where there is lower rainfall of thinner or sandy soils which drain nicely. Given how easily the rest of Ireland can grow grass I shouldn't think they would need to grow much else besides a bit of wholecrop.

A Big M doing the rounds on demo in this area at the moment & it has no were near the out put of a big tractor on a set of triple mowers, running cost a very high for big M as well
Pure rubbish , I’ve talked to several contractors who have switched from tractor triple set ups to Big m s , and they can now get all their grass mowed by one man , the tractor triple set ups needed a second tractor mower with doubles to help it get through the work, a good driver on a big m will keep ahead of the biggest harvestor on his own, no tractor triple can come near him, one lad said that it was the time saved on the headlands was where he gained most time. Most of the big contractors here doing over 5000 acres are all switching from triples to Big m machines.

Man near us would be lifting very close to 10000 acres a season sticks with triples. Expensive lessons with a big m. But can make use of the high hp tractors through the rest of the year

Actually pricing one up at the minute , so I’ve done a lot of research on them recently. The lads that have them around here won’t go back to triples.
Largest contractor in our area has one big m and one set of triples. What's a big m selling for? Would you be close to two tractors and two set of triples for the price of one big m?

The dealer beside you has a 400 for €70 k . A new 450 is over €300 k , but a good second hand one will do me a long time

The boys outperforming the BigM with tractor and triples must be mowing lawns. I've had a good run over the years with different mowing combinations and unless you are going to consistently mowing above 20km/hr which is the max speed of the krone in field mode there is no way on earth a set of triples will outperform a BigM from dawn to dark

Having a turn key high output machine sitting in the yard ready to go may seem a luxury but so too is the high hp tractor that quite often requires the contractor to offer additional services to justify it's place on the fleet and these services often don't stack up financially.
As for the mythical increase in running costs the krone will take exactly the same consumables and serviceable items as triples, the same servicing and consumables as the high hp tractor all while using less diesel per acre so let me be blunt and call bulls**t on this costlier to run myth 🙄.
