Water

I've got a grant to install water troughs under stewardship (pays £110/trough)
I need 8 for stewardship and another 2 not under stewardship for 2 fields across the road (currently there is only a small water trough in each of these fields as the previous tenant only grazed youngstock in them so when my cows go in here they drain them fairly fast)

My question really is increased flow vs big water troughs?

I am going to buy 2 x 550 gallon concrete troughs for across the road as otherwise it will mean putting a new pipe in under the road and up the entire length of the farm which will cost an absolute fortune (plus I can take the troughs with me when I leave whereas water pipe is a bit more tricky!).

However for the grant scheme there's no size specification for the troughs themselves so am wondering is it better to have smaller troughs (I only get paid £110 regardless of whether the trough is 500 gallon or 10 gallon) and having bigger pipe instead for the fields closer to the yard? If so what size pipe and water trough is best?

Thankyou!

Happy at it

Have you secured the tenancy for a long period of time @Jdunn55 ? Will you benefit from all the fencing resending and improvements your making, I would resent even putting a few posts in with a strand of wire to patch a fence on rented ground, that I'm not certain of getting again....
