Correct they are vadarstad discs. Should be able to drill anything but I will use it for forage crops and grass. Will experiment with adding clover and herbs in existing leys.
as a trial, we direct drilled 4ac spring barley this year, with our vaderstat, looked bloody awful for ages, but as time went on, it got better, decent crop there now, just 2 weeks behind the conventionally drilled s barley.
Another time, we will have learnt a bit, so should be better. There's a decent crop there, for a spray of r-up, and drilling, saving a plough, and work and drill. We like our vady, drill everything other than maize with it. Neighbour drilled his maize with one, for several years, but returned to a 'proper' maize drill.
but, if you don't try alternative ways, you will never know if they work, or not. And there are cash savings as well, by using min-til, or d/d, you can save fuel, and improve soil structure.
