Massey 3600 series pto slipping

I've got a 1993 3635 that I suspect that the pto is slipping. Is there any simple checks that I can do before ripping it apart to see if the discs are wore out?

not really but when you take it out the banjo bolt that feeds the oil in on the top of the casting take it out then there is a short feed pipe that you need to fish out .it locks the pack in the casting

Ok thanks so a pressure test on the 17 bar circuit won't tell me much?

not really only thing it will tell you is there is a leak on the pto system could be a o ring somewhere or the plates are worn

just had our 3690 done new o rings , seals , and plates, would start up then slip under load

Theyr still burnt. Id do them when your in that length unless theyr extortion

On our 8220 it was an O ring failed in the pack. The tractor had done 11000 hours and the plates looked like yours so saved the £500 and re fitted the old ones once we’d found the problem. It’s been perfect since.

60 euro each and there's 5 of them

That's good to hear I'll pull it out and have a look at the seals

Clutch pack seals looked ok but I can't say the same about the 540 gear.

Got it all reassembled this evening but now the pto is spinning constantly. I'm guessing I've assembled the clutch incorrectly that the plates are pressing together?

Don't run it long like that. The pto brake presses on the rear gear and is sprung loaded on so will soon wear.

Think I found the problem I had item 13 in backwards and the friction plates were pressed together permanently.
