Just as strong as the 4 or 6 cyl but obviously parts availability for the engine will be alot more scarce both new and used.

From new in 1983 (a Y Reg) untill about 2006 we had a Fiat 880 DT 5, so, it had the 5 cylinder engine. Never had any engine problems. It was, for a while our main front line tractor , ploughing with a 4 furrow DP7, running a 3m combi drill and pulling our grain trailers.
A smooth running engine, but not a very torquey one. I was told when looking for a new starter motor that it was also fitted to a lot of Vans, so that should help with parts availability, from memory, an 8055 engine?
Hope it helps.
