Apologies in advance for the graphic photo, picked up this lamb this evening (naturally it's everyone's favourite pet lamb here)
Something's eaten out it's bottom jaw and throat but I don't know what. Suspect it was dead first as no blood around

Fox if youve got them around,Badgers if youve got them around or its surprising what birds like crows ravens (they also go for eyes tounges and soft parts of the guts ) buzzards and even seagulls will do and of course dogs .

My money so far would be a fox,atm and all the others maybe along soon...if they had had the chance.

Was there anything else eaten or any other damage? I thought fox,s and badgers go for the guts first the softest part looks a good size lamb 😠

Just a hole in its stomach but I put that down to birds as it wasn't big enough for anything else I don't think.

He was an orphan that couldn't stand for 3 or 4 days, my girlfriend spent ages with him and got him walking and he's been fine since, was destined for the freezer but apparently not anymore, bit of a shame he was a friendly one.

They’ll strip the whole lamb to nothing before it’s cold. Had a big run of ewes and lambs in 2003-2005 years which were totally stripped yet still warm, big FO paw prints nearby and 4 aggressive sheepdogs at the time wouldnt go in certain fields/wooded areas.

Had a lamb not looking well last week, 8am it was walking around albeit slow, by 10am it had no eyes, several puncture wounds to the stomach and it’s intestines were hanging out. Ravens that was as I saw them at it.

I’d say badger too, never seen an otter go for anything older than 3 weeks but they’ll devastate small lambs quick enough

I sometimes think the Arabs have got it right. "It was written". Spent three days and night's feeding a weak foal every three hours that would not suck until it came around and grew into a fine yearling. Then it got it's head stuck in the hay rack and had to be destroyed. I spent most of a morning reviving a chick that had got chilled. Got it running around again. Dead next morning. Plenty more like that. Lambs especially. Sometimes it is "written". But commiserations to your girl friend. Sorry, not helpful.

Lots of young predators around at this time of the year learning to hunt and to break into corpses.

Yes I agree, she's pretty new to this farming nonsense but she's doing well!
