New tractors - Are they all dull to drive?

We bent the exhaust on our t7040, we chopped it off to weld it up and the baffles fell out in tiny pieces.
we repaired it so it’s just straight into the silencer, I was very worried it would be too loud, I don’t want to spend all day going deaf, anyway it’s no louder and sounds great!
the new T7.210 is like driving a hair dryer, I would rather listen to the old 7040 than a vario gearbox whining

Depends on what you define as 'dull'. So far the focus has been on the noise they make, fully appreciate a nice MX135, 1455, 956XL, MF 6480 T3, 6620, etc. But ultimately all of those are absolute camels.

I still get equally as excited/impressed by our little Maxxum 130CVX. It's a proper pocket rocket and the power and nimbleness still impresses me to this day 7 years on and 6500hrs. It's super good on banks and it pushes the big boys on trailers and runs rings around them in a yard.

I've driven a 19 reg NH T7.315 which is an absolute monster, the ludicrous power and how quick it takes off I really don't see that as dull at all. I enjoyed the day I did on that!

Our latest 145CVX is a genuinely lovely place to spend a long day, again, no engine note as such and a bit of vario whine/groan but then I'm a music fanatic so I've got that turned up enough not to worry. I've got a subtle light bar and a stupid loud air horn so it's not like a bog standard stockman spec which I would consider a bit dull :ROFLMAO:

Seems a lot of almost snobbery when it comes to bla bla bla, owes me nothing, no depreciation, bla, bla bla, that's great, good for you, but doesn't make you any better than anyone else but if you think it makes you a hero then by all means get your cape on! 😅

Our Maxxum spends most of its life on the sprayer now, and it's only really me that drives it, the engine is a peach.

I might have asked before but do you find it very vague on the steering on the road at speed?

Only with the big flail on the front but that's to be expected. Otherwise it's very (almost) twitchy! It is on its 3rd steering filter (the in line one under the cab).

Not a red one?
No after 24 new red ones! It was dad’s decision he preferred the pickup hitch controls and the way the gearbox shifted through the ranges also the mechanical suspension on all 4 cab corners. For me we wanted mechanical spools and the only way to do that with an mf is to have an essential spec which loses the arm rest controls that we’ve been used to for the last 20 years. The thing we miss a lot is the left hand powershift and we think the jd engine is fairly thirsty

We had a t6070 which the exhausted cracked off. That was some animal on the mower. The big Cummins in the mx150 now has the same issue. Not complaining makes doing the mixs a little more exciting.

You boy haven't heard anything till you an Aussie spec 8R JD. Ie not AdBlue or DPF just raw horsepower some weapon.

The "old" 6630 is newer than any tractors that I own, so my opinion is irrelevant.

But this is the internet, so I'll add my opinion anyway:

New tractors are boring.....but not as boring as new cars

I'd love to tell you to stick a straight pipe on it, but it's probably got more sensors in the exhaust pipe than my whole tractor has and it'll probably all go horribly wrong in some warranty voiding way :)

You could always have it tuned? That often makes things more exciting and wakes them up a bit.

New tractors horrible bloody things. For someone who is totally tractor daft I’ve no interest whatsoever in modern tractors. Their lifeless complicated and boring. I’ve 2 Valtras n111&121 Full suspension all around gear levers that aren’t complicated electric hydraulics manual spools 50kph and AirconThey’re the only two valtras I’ve had what more could I want or would you need brilliant tractors .I have a John Deere 6145R with all the telly screens electrics spools and all the sh1!s of the day I absolutely bloody hate it.but I’m a Ford 5000/7810 man really. so the two Valtras are a hell of a improvement on them.

:scratchhead:Well the electric ones I`ve seen look like sh*t and they probably sound cr*p too. The poor dear would be well advised to get a really good one with an internal combustion power plant...
It'll outperform the gasoline ones easily. ;)

I used to enjoy driving the Valtra T190 at work, that 7.4 litre Susu used to make a lot of noise and theres certain satisfaction in getting gear shifts right with it big gearstick.

I still enjoy having the sunroof open on the 3075 for a bit of turbo noise and the side window open on the MX135 for some Cummins noise,

for a bit.

Well I much prefer to not have to listen to the “character” of a tractor when I’m sat in the cab for 15 hours a day.

much better to let the vario sort the speed out, the GPS to sort the direction out and I can choose the tunes that beam up from my fone to the wireless.

still like V8s though in cars.

Valtra sound great, just cruising. I just want enough engine/transmission noise to be able to perceive what is happening underneath me and be able to listen out for anything behind.

I much prefer modern gear with switches and stuff to work it, less noise and vibration into the cabin. If I can get paid money to drive all day and not touch the pedals or reach out with an arm I'm all for it.
