Same all over most of Devon now, no rain in the forecast for this month at the moment as well.

Dairy neighbour of mine with over 200 cows indoors on robots 24/7 is apparently taking mains water in ibc's and pouring it into his borehole to supply his dairy unit/house etc!

Plenty of places with grass. Was on a farm yesterday with over a foot of lush green grass. Our is still keeping up with majority of stock.

That would be over 40 ibcs a day just for drinking water for the cows. house water, robots and wash down would add a significant volume as well.

I would imagine they could be topping up suppy

Sounds like a time consuming excersise .... how many ibc containers is he using ?
No idea but he is up and down several times a day with IBC's.

I guess the borehole is still producing some water but running dry when demand is at a peak.

I know a few others are starting to get worried if their boreholes will run dry or not as well.

Maybe he set off to do something and by the time he dealt with a few phone calls and his lads shouting at him on quad bikes he forgot what he’d set off to do?
I do that most days

They were complaining that there was no beef prices but I was putting more beef prices up than some that were complaining
Some of the ones complaining didn’t put up any
Which is normally the case and happens quite often.

Keep posting the beef prices on this thread and forget about the other thread.

A better class of posters on this thread anyway(y)

All they need to do is ask, time of year anyway with all the store lamb sales an general sheep sales.the thread is bound to be dominated by sheep talk.

Bit on pointless as most of us run cattle an sheep.
unless we have a mole in the ranks.planted by arable lads to cause unrest?🤔
one that thinks there are no costs in sheep farming ?

Burnt hellish dry here, fortunately a lot of stock gone so can spread remainder’s thinner on the ground but starting feeding haylage today to ewes. Went 10 mile away yesterday and couldn’t believe how much grass there is on land which has had slurry, 4th cut with 1 of my friends is over a foot tall already and it wasn’t cut that long ago! We had 4mm weekend before last and they had 75mm 😔
