There’s a main gas one going from South Hook (Milford) to Gloucester way which is 5’ wide fitted in 2004/5, I did a bit on it for a chartered surveyor at the time, something crazy like 20 metres down. I know the trench was 60metres wide.

This pipe was laid in the 70s I think esso used to own it but now a Spanish company do its about 18inch wide and a bit porous as lots of repairs they do on it every now again they put a machine to scan the pipe all the way up to Manchester the time to put machine in run it up stop the oil it costs nearly 1 million £ to do

And the rest probably. There are some crazy figures quoted when a pump goes and needs changing and they have to stop things for a few hours, £ millions per hour job
We were at one side of a 7 acre field and it was 2/3 way across it. He tried telling us we should ask permission before disturbing any soil near the pipeline. We told him to go forth and multiply, ignored him and carried on. But it makes you wonder how the hell they knew we were there? Unless we’d just dropped unlucky of one of the helicopter surveys?
