Who has replaced Guy Smith at Red Tractor?

Yes and Yes.

I will not say anymore as it will just start a tirade of abuse about RT, NFU, me and everyone involved. No thanks.

Abuse would be undeserved and wrong.

A frank criticism of what a coterie of NFU panjandrums have done to our grain trade is absolutely overdue. I think it's absolutely diabolical.

Ukrainian boats coming in is the icing on the cake. You can only take the pee out of people for so long before they react. As someone mentioned before it's like a runaway train.

I think Alistair Mackintosh was parachuted in wasn't he?

Guy was on the board to represent the views of farmers and protect those farmers from imports. In fact to quote him:

“I’m delighted to join Red Tractor at such a critical time for British Agriculture. I’ve been Red Tractor Assured since its inception twenty years ago. Their standards have been developed over two decades and are the bedrock of our industry. We must continue to protect and defend these standards, and work to win the hearts and minds of government, consumers and the industry; so we don’t witness an influx of imported food produced to standards that are lower than the UK.”

So I am very interested in who replaced him. Also the "personal reasons" is a standard political response when the true answer can't be revealed. I had purely wondered if he was ill and more had come out since. If that was the case I'd only wish him the best. But if "personal reasons" is code for he got caught calling "Dim Jim" by his nickname while defending farmers - I would think that equally funny.

If RT can't even stand by an appointment without fear of abuse, then I suggest they look more closely at their appointments. I assume from your answer it was another NFU bod in the money-go-round of ag jobs.

If memory serves, John Dracup was a newest member. Described as a sheep farmer from Devon, he missed out his long history as ‘procurement officer‘ for St. Merryn aka Tesco. Did he ever leave?

I love the way these bio’s leave out some pertinant facts about past and current roles. If you can’t be honest in the bio - it’s not the right person.

On the board of directors there is just one person representing himself as a "farmer" as far as I can tell and that is Mr Mackintosh. Maybe Angela Rhodes counts too but is also part of Arla's assurance scheme set up so could be half and half.

The rest appear to be representing either their employers or their industry body.

In the sector boards its a similar story, chock full of industry representatives dreaming up obfuscation at no cost or implication to them, with no regulatory remit.

And we are to pretend to @snarling bee that we think is all reasonable and all we are trying to do is shine a light and find out whats going on and asking are the people who claim to represent farmers or the people who claim to gaining farmers a premium really doing so? (and I mean that with great respect and no abuse and I think we have every right to)

Notice that it's mostly tff staff members who start threads on nfu and rt🤔🕵🤣.
Not true at all. but was a question I was asked in a meeting yesterday and didn’t know the answer. I usually do know on what boards and what NED roles they have.

I first went to Red Tractor website, and was no mention of Guy Leaving or a replacement. But was for when he joined.

I then Googled it and found nothing.

so then started a thread assuming someone would know here. And @snarling bee does.

Crikey they've got a lot of staff, no wonder the subs cost so much.
