Better going this way 🤣 lovely to combine as the ground is that hard you can scalp it with no bulldozing

this was the crazy turnip experiment

The boys scalping the chalk downs with flints are not so lucky . On the flinty chalk its a matter of keeping the header up and go steady or you will have smoke in your rear view mirror. 3 on sunday around here one yesterday and another big one out by the looks out Fovant way .

Well, I got the spicy cough a couple of weeks ago

knocked me bloody hard the first week, all I wanted to do was sleep, but I was coughing all the time & was constantly short of breath.
Couldn’t think straight, still can’t. Was on the phone to someone in the first week & said “sorry, I can’t think of the words I need or know how to say what I want to say” . . .
Over it now, but think I’m up for “long covid”. Still short of breath, easily tired, no stamina & still got “brain fog”
Was driving today & had trouble tearing open the plastic wrap around a 6 pack. Thought I’d be clever ( cos I forgot to put my Leatherman knife on my belt this morning ) & use a cigarette lighter to open it. While driving. I used the lighter to melt the wrap, but it caught fire & filled the cab with burning plastic smoke 🤦‍♂️
While driving at 100km / hr on a gravel road 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I had Covid but not badly and know what you mean about the brain fog. Sometimes find myself searching for words too! Conspiracist would have you believe it’s from the vaccine that the government is killing us all with🤔🤔

From what I remember from my selling day’s it’s a deltamethrin substance so the fly needs to land on the cattle to kill it. That’s why you’ll still see flys around the cattle. Should have done it earlier on in the season so that would have Brocken the egg laying cycle and would have had less flys.

It’s been DAM HOT this week, but things still seem to be moving at a million miles an hour.

This spell of weather has played tricks with my eyes twice this week on my drive into work. Looking up towards the hills I see what looks like smoke giving me that feeling of “Oh crap who’s is that?” This was soon followed by relief knowing that it was just a combination of a harvest dust cloud, sun refraction and a simple act of physics when hot and cold air collide. OOOOOH that was a lesson from school I never thought I would remember!

Boss Man Chris and Brother Paul finished off the corn last weekend and started on the beans a few days ago. This means very early mornings before the pods get too hot and “pop” as the combine closes in. Dillybob is still doing the combine mechanic/cleaning and blowing off/prepping ready for the next shift after Boss Man Chris has finished for the day. I do believe things have gone well and if keeps on like that they should all be done by the weekend.

Stay safe out there you guys n gals on them combines and in them fields. It is hot and most areas are a complete tinder box just waiting to be a roaring fire. I know of at least 3 fires in our local area which were brought under control quickly because of speedy farmer action and the Fire Brigade. Thankfully, on the scale of things, not much damage. I know you are all no fools but when you are busy you just tend to just keep pressing on so, please keep an extra eye on each other.

King Kev and Cool Hand Luke have been steadily installing around 200 metres of outfall pipe for a new sewage treatment plant. It is a little “fall critical” so it is steady, laser assisted digging. In this heat both are grateful this is not Victorian England where shovels and picks were the only tools around!! They did find a 16” concrete storm drain so unfortunately, they had to hand dig under this, but early reports back were “It was quite cool at the bottom of that trench”.

The new pumps arrived for the cellar we visited last week so Boss Man Chris took Dillybob for another drive out to fit them. No lay flat hose was required this time, so all was calm. A simple enough job which went well, so well they returned with ice lollies!! 😊

Dillybob has been melting this week! I am not surprised blowing out the combine. Although this has not stopped his biscuit intake, if anything it has increased as “he doesn’t want the chocolate to melt and spoil”! The increase has been proven as he is now officially cuddlier than me :p

It is my Friday today so just leaves me to say, been a bloody warm and hard week lads but you plugged on and we had a few laughs along the way, thank you for that. Have great weekend, going to be a warm one!! See you all on Monday, till then, stay safe and stay smiley.
