Drilling turnips during hot weather

Why is it that any turnip seed grows on the stones outside my back door after I have dropped a few out of my boots, yet struggles in a dry seedbed in the field !?!

Even the bloody flea beetle doesn't attack the ones by my house !
Sniff your socks for the answer to that one

Using Barkant in some mixtures this year
Good variety so I’m told 👍
A Barenbrug bred variety, your customers will be delighted with it. (y)

A little story, when they had Barkant they knew they were onto a winner and quickly registered it for ag use and whatever else needed to be done to keep it exclusive for a few years. Then someone registered it for horticultural use, exclusivity was short-lived! 🤣🤣🤣

Better late than never 😃

Didn’t you say, upthread, that yours was overwintered stuff, kept back from last year (when stubble turnips were practically unavailable late on :scratchhead: )?

No problem with that particularly. I’ll be drilling overwintered (over several winters I think) seed tomorrow, and don’t anticipate a problem… as long as that rain arrives.

I am anticipating seeing the storms splitting when they hit the Wrekin, and missing us.... again.

#I am picking up some Rumevite blocks for the tup lambs later. As the Bossman said, "it's nice and dry about, and you won't have any wastage...." An omen I feel ;) Get 'em bought!!
