How cheap is cheap?
I was offered wheat straw delivered for £55 ton the other day, I thought that was a pretty good price.

Sounds good. We have 20 acres off a family member 10 miles away every year. By the time I bale it and haul it we'd be better off getting it brought in. Some years we save a bit
But isn't that dderw farm straw best in the parish

dry ground meaning shorter straw in some areas, masses of cattlemen looking to bulk out grass crops, and the fuel price is through the roof (i'm boldly assuming the burners are in some kind of touch with the real world......), residual fert values up.
Why would straw be cheaper this year?
(I'll be delighted, my first wagon load is due in on't morning. )

I've sold some wheat straw for £14 bale round - thats about £62 to me. Was a waste of time really. Chopper next year. I chopped a bit this year and it makes life far easier than screwing about with straw
as @Derrick Hughes has stated demand is dead straw everywhere and no where to store it there is no shortage this year

amazing .....could it be ,with the drought, stock farmers can't afford to buy yet?......or ppl planning to destock given hyper input inflation/bps reduction
