Being attacked while working

Maybe a mention of “ he may have a gun”, would motivate them a bit more?
Only if there is a genuine and immediate threat to life.

the police did something… they rang him up and gave him some “words of advice”… pathetic really I thought.
If you have evidence, keep a copy and give it to them. Ask what more than a threat to kill requires more than a quick word...

Stand up to him and threaten him that you know some unpleasant people that can sort him and his kids at school if he has any that is ? tell him that if any thing happens to you or your family you have already made contact with your unpleasant people.
I’m afraid you have to throw it back at him as the police won’t do anything and if he thinks he has got you worried he’ll play on it .
Yes this is what I’m thinking… I do know a few people who are slightly unhinged and wouldn’t mind a bit of a punch up. If he does it again I’ll be sending them a message asking if they’re busy…
This is where you need a sizeable crew of YFC friends and/or a couple of those friends who are borderline law abiding maniacs. Drive down the track, matey will appear with his stick and out of nowhere your friends will pop out and the bloke will change his mind.
He will change his mind or his mind will be changed?

Don't be so bloody stupid; if he actually attacks you, by all means defend yourself using any necessary force at that time. But taking the law into your own hands will not end well, you'll either start a tit-for-tat vendetta which could escalate to silly levels, or you'll end up inside, or both.

I've seen the end result of this sort of thing many, many times and, regardless of what the rights and wrongs were at the start, the fool who uses unnecessary violence - especially premeditated - ends up getting in the most trouble.

You've paid your taxes, make them work for you - other than by paying your keep inside. (y)

Two days ago, while carting some bales, a man who lives in the house next to the only track to access a 60a block of land parked his dumper on the track to block my path, then chased me down the track with a large stick (looked like a baseball bat) shouting he was going to bash my brains in… aparently I was driving too fast (down this private track which isn’t his property) and making a dust. Been driving through there at 8mph… police predictably have done nothing about it. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else and if so how did you deal with it? Makes me think now that we need some kind of way of locking tractor doors from the inside, like on a car. Would at least offer some protection.
Sadly, we have this problem, not infrequently. Definitely get a dash cam, if he stops you again, make sure that he sees you check that he is being recorded. Don't leave the cab,and turn the engine off so that his threats can be clearly heard on the dash cam recording . Report every incident to the Police and keep a note of who you make the report to ,as Danllan advised above.

I was combining behind a row of houses last week only to find one of the houses had chucked their old broken trampoline over the fence into the field so I returned it back over, by the time I'd got back around the field they'd chucked it back over again. It infuriates me that the general public seem to think it's ok to use the countryside as a general dumping ground

Throw it back. Society doesn't have to put up with this type of carp.

Drive slow, if he comes out stop ,open the door and as he climbs up in the cab hit him smack over the head with a big spanner. Most of these mouthy types s.hit bricks when you stand up to them, if you havent done a damn thing wrong then dont take a single step back

Yes of course you are right… still my taxes don’t seem to be going to the right places…

I was lime spreading once on a field that bordered Subaru Uk HQ

Of course, the breeze was going their way. Big glass offices and maybe 50+ brand new cars plus staff vehicles. Bugger.

I went into reception, waited to see a very pleasant woman who assured me the dust wouldn’t matter, all the cars were cleaned before they left anyway. She thanked me for taking the time to let them know and said to carry on.

If you go and find people it’s nearly always ok. If they have to come and find me, it’s nearly always not ok!!

Fast forward half an hour and I’m spreading. From the opposite side of the field, so the wind going away from his house, an old but obviously very fit and muscular bloke is striding out waving his arms. He’s straight up the steps and in my face threatening me with a good hiding if any of my “Chemical dust” gets anywhere near his house or aviary. He stopped short of actually touching me but I was catching his spit and I don’t mind saying he shook me a bit.

I think I told him he could be a bit more polite about it but I got more threats before he jumped down and marched off. This pillock had built an extension without permission that jutted out into the field and was well known to all as a loose cannon.

Just goes to show how different people can be!!

We have a block of outlying ground that was constantly driven over by hare coursers and motorcycles, we fenced off a small grass field and the local gypsys now keep their coloured ponies there. Not had a single incident since. Extremely cost effective deterrent 😉

That’s actually a very very good idea…

Reminds me of a of when a couple of years ago we needed access down a lane in the village to combine a field, house next to the lane was bought by a developer from Newcastle, we wouldn't be able to get the combine and tractors past his Luton van, so went down in the morning to see if he wouldn't mind moving his van for a couple of hours, no one about so left a very polite note on his van window along with my phone number if there was any problems, half an hour later my phone rang and the guy was swearing at me telling me he is not mowing his van and if I had a problem with it to come and see him, took a pack of beers down with me as a peace offering, went and knocked on the door and all I heard was him shouting calling me all the names under the sun then he answered the door and his attitude changed for some reason, I don't know if it was the offer of the beer or the fact that I'm around 6ft4-5 and 19st and have a resemblance to a ill tempered grizzly bear that changed his mind ! Never had a problem since !

I’ve had this when my 16 year old nephew was carting slurry passed a local bell ends house, next load I went with a load and he disappeared off round the back of his house,he’s never once said a word to me but has threatened a few mainly women who he says drive too fast past his house, one day he’ll pick on the wrong person and wish he’d never lived there.

Didnt say the magic words. Are you sure that, while making threats, that the attacker didnt call you a slur based on your sexuality? Because if you *think* you heard, then that makes it a hate-crime. Get your story in first; tick the special boxes; and remind them of their duties. Ask for their victim support. Follow it up.

If you are going to call plod, make sure its entirely on your terms.

You say the Police did nothing but in a later post you say they have spoken to him? He is now on Record as being advised about his conduct, I expect they warned him that a re occurrence would result Charges been bought or a FPN or Police Caution being issued.

What more do you want them to do exactly? Bear in mind what each of you have told the Police may be totally different so it's your word against his. For all we know he may have said you got aggressive when he politely asked you to drive a bit slower.

If I were you I would now feel more confident if I have to defend myself as he is now known to the Police.
