    Russell Brand

We are all in agreement about the fact that he is a 'tool' (And a vegan) But what do you all think about the message that be was putting across in his post? I think he raised some fair points

    Pasture-For-Life beef

You're right, but unfortunately there's no benefit in producing 4 x 320kg carcasses if you can only sell one of them. Until the buyers, processors, and supermarkets realise that smaller carcasses could be the answer it won't work for everyone. Meanwhile, the supply trade are happy to keep...

    Russell Brand

Absolutely! But he does raise some issues about global agriculture which maybe we should consider.

BBC article: National Trust to plant blossom trees around UK

As I see it, it's more a case of the NT PR/comms department doing their job properly and just following some pretty basic seasonal events (such as spring blossom) then supplying the media with nice consumer friendly press releases. The message they really want to put out is not the blossoms or...

"Improving Our Lot" - Planned Holistic Grazing, for starters..

Like that idea. 👍 We could set up a thread/group here that would be a useful tool and reference. @awkward care to host the first walk? 😎

    Build me a silage clamp.

Like @vantage has said. Go for a big pad, no walls but a lip to catch effluent. Why not go one step further, fence around it and make it self-feed. No key to turn to feed out all winter

The UK Farmers Union - is it time ?

It certainly makes you think more deeply about Clive's point though. (Assuming that you did read it like me - twice!)

    Where will the Dutch go?

I'm sure I read somewhere that ½"/year is the sea level rise of the North Sea. That means 1 metre by the end of this century. There'll be a lot of refugees from London and Hull too.

The UK Farmers Union - is it time ?

Got to be careful with these acronyms. It could turn into the FUKU union Whilst a media nightmare, it could be a hell of a PR stunt to pull off!

Cattle- the cause or the cure?

That's what people don't get though. Simple things are often complex. Nature being the classic example. Rule number 1 is don't interfere.

Cattle- the cause or the cure?

I thought the same , but he has picked up on the issue of the big corporations and control of Ag. I know it will largely be self promotion for him, but with what he's saying, it isn't out of place on this forum.

Making an Road through an Field

Access was always there through the gate. 👍 Do it, but do it tidy. Just don't abuse it with tarmac, streetlights and signs! On a serious note though, our landlord made us apply for pp for cowtracks. There was never an issue we wouldn't get it, but it did cost us £2½k. Had we owned the farm...

Can you please show your working out, then hopefully we won't make the same mistake. However, you do still get some credits for showing your calcs 🤣

Cattle- the cause or the cure?

Can't believe I am posting this , but even Russell Brand has picked up on the the root causes of the Indian Farmers uprising, and possibly some global ag issues too
