    How late for linseed

I pulled the plug on drilling linseed 10 days ago as there was no moisture in the ground, then we had 7 mm of rain which was just enough to get the cultivators and drill to produce excellent seedbed. Time will tell tho as the early drilled crops around here have been raveged by flea beetle as...

Am I mad to be contemplating a new combi drill?

This one has double disc coulter,,,,,,,,, in the end we wished we had a 3 m machine with a hopper up front Neighbours pottinger does a nice job but at the end of the day our Rapid got 480 acres planted in under 4 days and if I had more ground cultipressed he would of drilled more..

Am I mad to be contemplating a new combi drill?

We had ourselves a 4 M combi a few years back thinking it was the way forwards , nope ,,,,,, not for us it wasn't , packer puts the ground down to tight IMHO , the drill bit is sulking somewhere in the nettles , the power harrow is useful occasionally but changed the 4 m rapid for a 6 m one...

What cultivator (excluding Top Down types) do you use to "One Pass" cultivate Over wintered stubbles ready for drilling.

I have all my stubbles to start to get ready now . stubble going into linseed then we will lightly trio , cultipress and then drill if conditions are favourable , if its a bit clatty then I might put the power harrow over instead of the cultipress . I also have ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, a acreage of...

Fert spreader depreciation, price to swap.

Our 30.1 which is the basic fixed speed job has covered somewhere near 35 K acres in the 8 years we have had if , I hope that she is going to do at least another 20 K acres before we swop it . will the new one cost a bit more than the 6.5 ish K that the 30.1 cost us :)

We were the same as you and got a bit on over that weekend, land around here is very wet and I thought if the damp weather carried on it could be a long time before we could travel. Still got the better crops to do but will be patient for a bit

Suppliers of pin and cone headstock to fit JCB 531-70

I might be wrong but I believe that there are a couple of varients in the pin and cone headstock,,,,,,,,,, from the cone to the bottom of the backplate, if you have the bigger one you can have issues getting of the implement

    What combine would you recommend

Having not read through all the replays I expect the usual Massey haters have had there say , but I had a yellow machine which was very problematic for two seasons and swopped it for a 40 RS ,,,,,, no problem at all , very cheap combining for 5 years . Now I'm not saying the OP should buy a red...
