    MV North Country Cheviots

I am not well practiced at buying from auctions and can think of better uses for my time. I don't have a problem with auctions, I'd rather use an agent than go myself though.

    MV North Country Cheviots

I prefer to buy off farm, not interested in attending round a ring. Would want MV screening at least.

    Lorry driver shortage

Brexit biting hard in the US. They've had to bring in the National Guard to drive school buses.

    Lorry driver shortage

Now you're dreaming. Employers would rather sh!t on a driver from great height and cover their own arse. After all, they can always get another driver from the agency... Oops, looks like that trick has expired.

    What ram for hoggs

A few years ago I lambed a couple of days for someone to repay a neighbour. About 400 Texel and Suffolk mules (all bought in) put to some flavour of terminal. They were in a shed during the night, and on an adjoining grass paddock in the day. There were pens in the shed and anything that...

    What ram for hoggs

The busy work people come up with to make themselves feel useful. A mate of mine recently left a shepherding job after a big row. It was a couple of days post weaning and the ewes were inside to dry off on straw. The employer saw the sheep and told the shepherd their bags were too full, which...

Thoughts on loosing BPS and replacing with ELMS?

So 2 people required, that's £30k drawings each. That's £60k total. Need to assign a labour figure of £150/acre then. What else needs to be paid for? Nominal rent of £100/acre to land holding business. Some insurances, fence maintenance and running costs on a quad. A bit of haulage to get to...

Thoughts on loosing BPS and replacing with ELMS?

Look at the AHAB figures. For grazing livestock it appears to be in excess of 100% of profit.

Thoughts on loosing BPS and replacing with ELMS?

    1) Streamline the business to make a profit. 2) get a job.

No need for a trailer test anymore?

Those foreign plated 3.5t curtainsiders with the sleep pods always look well dodgy to me. They seem to have a minimum speed of 90mph as well.
