Bob Green Buildings - any thoughts!?

I got a quote from Robinsons this week for a lean to, to go on a 100/50 shed….. quote was in with in 5 days of asking. Only problem is it’s costing as much for a very basic lean to as the entire shed cost 3 years ago, a good 10k more than I expected.

Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Had 435p/kg for a 416kg U3L bull off last week. Comes to just over £1800, happy with that but cost of feed and fert fair takes the shine off it.

Project 331, Vaderstad restoration and isobus conversion

We had one of these drills in the early 2000s I am pretty certain there was a mod that was fitted to strengthen the chassis. It also got a cat 3 shaft as an upgrade too. It was my first drill and to be honest I struggled to get depth consistent on light land, I often think how simple it was and...

    Cattle mineral feeder ideas

The old fire clay troughs/sinks are my indoor feeder of choice. Out side the best I have Seen although I haven’t got any yet are the big round tubs that are designed not to be tipped over, they have a rubber flap lid fixed from the centre so cows can lift it with nose and get in to mins without...

    vadertad 300 super

Have the option of a reasonably clean mid 90s one of these. Has anyone used them for direct drilling into grassland? Thinking clover. The discs are fairly worn, what sort of money is in a set of them?

    Telehandler with twin spool valves

When stuck a few years ago putting bruised grain into a low door shed after the only tractor that fitted in was sold…. We had a set of pipes made up to run from the 3rd service on jcb boom to work the rear door, worked fine. Just lucky we had another forklift to load the trailer so we didn’t...

Sudden Death of Sucklers in This Weather.

I had 2 in quick succession this time last year. When I phoned the knackery and she asked the cause of death, I said staggers, she didn’t sound surprised so I asked if they have been picking up a lot of staggers casualties…. “Oh Christ aye” was the reply! Must say this thread has got me...

    Fertiliser Price Tracker

Would be interesting to know exactly how much is already bought and on farm for next year, how much is bought and as yet to be delivered, how much is still sitting in storage unsold and how many farms are sitting with full/half/zero cover. I suppose the trade would love to know this just the...

Under pressure from rep to get some cover, a month or 6 weeks ago he was of the opinion that it might drop by spring. Don’t need anything until end of March. What to do what to do…..

    Fert prices and stocking rates

£330/t which I think is about where beef stock cake is at now, by next summer it could obviously be much higher. Probably best to supplement winter feed this year with something bought in, save as much silage as possible and then as you say graze more silage ground next year. Will probably have...

    Combinables Price Tracker

I sold a load at £180 as no drying cost, last year I hauled barley to a neighbour to dry but it cost £15/t plus haulage (fresh drier is on the shopping list but just not found the right machine yet.) So £15 plus haulage there an back is making £180 worth £200 to me…. I’m maybe regretting it...

Just worked out for the price of a load of N I could feed my suckler cows 2kgs/head/day of 16% cake for 150 days 🤔 how many kgs would they actually need to make up for the shortfall in grazing if I only put on half the normal fert or none at all 🤷‍♂️ Can’t be arsed feeding them every day all...

100% agree with this, why can’t have it cloud based with an app on phones in this day an age is v poor and the way the whole thing works is hard going, moving off animals having to constantly click the mart Box, same with registrations, u only need the breeds of bulls you have, having to scroll...
