ERTH Agriseeder vs Simtech TS Grass 300

Be ok on a flat farm but our 32row Erth with a ton of ballast is over 3ton and takes everything a 6130 with 1200kg on the front has to give.

Clamp v big bale silage cost

@Stw88 didnt say it wasn’t costing him, he said it’s cost was already written off which is a standard way calculating the annual cost of a depreciating asset…..it’s already made him it’s initial purchase cost back

Clamp v big bale silage cost

Bale a lot of grass in “one or two days” with a modern baler, why should it take weeks. Also the cost of chopping grass will be an increasing cost the way machinery is going up in price. A baler on a farm will last easily 15 years if looked after and if you live in an area of high rainfall like...

    Fat lambs in the shed

Never trimmed a sheeps foot for years and get less lameness than we ever used to. If you want to spread foot problems just use a set of trimmers.

    Mocha wagtail slurry spreader

Does beg the question if nitrogen quantities are easily saved with all these systems why are the manufacturers not publishing research about it. Trying to look onto a dribble bar with the grant and R and D into it is very poor.

    Fat lambs in the shed

We find this time of year inside sheep here almost never have footrot, rarely scald and mainly codd. So we mix some lincospectrum with water in a squirty bottle. Treat lame ones once a week and they always recover. Trick is to keep on top of it, if you have alot lincospectum footbath is very...

We wouldn’t dream selling sheep straight off our turnips, they look crap imo if selling live. Couple of weeks in a shed and they look different again.

We have been insured with an outfit around here called Tynedale for many years, we had one claim in the last few years, a bullock broke its leg in a crush. The claim was about 15% of our premium. They put a £1000 excess on all livestock claims so if a shed burnt down every beast had a £1000...

Victoria Prentis at NFU Tenants Conference!

It is a common NFU ploy to deflect critics, years ago I had a breakfast meeting ( handy for us livestock guys) with the then NFU national chairman at the time ( an arable farmer). I brought up the fact that support for hill farmers had been eroded due to NFU influence when government did away...
