    Best oil for raddle?

Same here😂😂. But every Rudd colour! We use oil out of cooking fryer at hotel where my wife works and it does a great job. Joking aside, you do have to keep it out of the way of the dog!!

    Wire through a duct

Not for alarm so no problems there, just using that size wire. But thinking about it , does that mean it will just not work (and make one pull their hair out ) or give a charge to the wire (and make your hair stand on end)

    Wire through a duct

I may be getting into fishing soon 👍 will give it a whirl. If I’d have known originally where shed was going would have a straight 11 foot duct in🤦‍♂️

    Wire through a duct

Duct itself isn’t long ,only about 25 metres, it is literally all the corners. They aren’t even all in the same way. 2 are horizontal corners and 2 are vertical!!!

    Wire through a duct

Thanks for replies. Re quote above. I presume that’s a fishing line? That is in conjunction with compressor idea . 50 lb plus nice and stiff? Not stiff enough to push through surely? 😮. Never been fishing in my life so absolutely clueless , not being dismissive. Why have I got 4 90s...

    Wire through a duct

I want a very thin ( alarm size) wire through a 2inch duct. It already has 2 electric cables in but the problem is it has loads of corners and I mean loads. 4 x 90 degrees and a slow bend. I had rope through to get the electric through and I must admit I thought should I put a rope through...

    wellies

I always had Hunter Wellies and loved them but they cost a fortune and didn’t last particular well so went onto Hoggs (fieldman I think they were called). Had two pairs of those but they were worse than ever. So last time I went in and bought the cheapest pair I could find and some of those...

    Coming Home For Lambing.

Why do you fetch them all in once they’ve lambed? Seams alot of work to me when the weather is so good. A lot more risk of picking up disease than just leaving them to there own devices out side. To be honest we just talked about it yesterday saying we are just making a job for ourselves...

    Coming Home For Lambing.

Thank you. Full to the gunnels with sheep tonight!! Pens in alleyways and even had to do an old style bales of hay pen in the loft to fit everything in!! That’s only 12 sheep mind!, was reading some of your original posts and thinking I bet our building would fit in your crèche!! Same here...

    Off farm income

Have a full time job (non agricultural ).A certain amount of flexibility if people will swap a day off but no “I’ll just pop home for my dinner hour to look at stuff”. We take 3 weeks off at lambing time to cover lambing and earlies and lates have to manage themselves. Worst thing is when you...

    Sheep breeding, bit of advice

You want to come and help when we gather of the fell!!! 😂. We’ll only have 5 or 6 with no mark that come in but every time through the sorting race they get muttered about until eventually they are the last ones left and at that point we have to listen to a 10 minute rant about folk not marking...

    Fence round chickens

I am aware, and is one of the reasons that we have decided to get a new hen house and hence, ask the above question on the farming forum.:)

    Fence round chickens

We have 25 free range hens in 3 separate houses and have just decided to buy a larger hen hut for all of them rather than mending again the original huts. But as we are at work we tend to leave them in until we get home and then let them out to give less chance for our friend’s Mr Fox and Mrs...

If you’re buying stores at auction

Thanks for advice. Not a lot between them at this stage. Sold some other day and same price though I thought Beltex looked more solid. Personal pretend farmer view. Charolais has bit more leg length and 7 inch more body length to grow into. Would actually be nice to hear from someone who...

If you’re buying stores at auction

Just out of tying to gain some knowledge. We have both Charolais and Beltex x Herdwick store lambs. When we take them to the Auction we have always sorted them into their different lots. Beltex x or Charolais x. As a buyer are you bothered if there is 2 different crosses in a pen or do you...

    Insulin dependent diabetics here?

Yes .I do that but at coffee time I will have a cuppa and biscuit and a small injection and it works ok ,no real problem and in afternoon have a brew and biscuit and if I have an injection it just seems to pull it down really quick. That’s why I find it puzzling really. Same Food and stuff, just...

    Insulin dependent diabetics here?

How do people manage through a day with their sugar? Mine I am struggling to keep it up when I am working outside and have found whilst being at home during lockdown that it has got halfway through an afternoon and has started to plummet. Trying to get it staying lower as opposed to high but it...

New entrants, have we made a mistake?

OK till you are furloughed?!! Then your stuffed we found out ???. Still, life is passing by all the time and if you enjoy life and can afford to keep going and enjoy it do just that. Our ‘farming’ costs us a fortune but gives us a life we love and that is priceless I reckon.
