Always surprising what the mzuri will plant through, this was drilled through standing 6ft forage rye. It's only the corner of the field that was left uncut (some branches had fallen and needed moving with a loader after cutting the rest of the field) and I wouldn't have wanted to do too much...

    Fieldbee or FDJ?

Well I've had FJD since this winter through @ERH Services Ltd and I can vouch that it is spot on, including yesterday on a steep side hill. I suppose the only knock is I wouldn't fancy swapping it round tractors all the time but for that level of accuracy that is a fair trade off.

    Bought a FJD kit

Been back out with the FJD today on the side of a hill putting some pollinator mix in. Couldn't be happier with how it performed. I hadn't changed any settings since the original installation and the steering compensated for the slopes perfectly, I was actually surprised what a good job it did...

    Record harvest?

Looked bad since April here in South Norfolk. All the promise coming out of winter evaporated, literally. On the light land, winter barley looks like it'll set a record, for worst ever. Shortest straw ever is assured. Triticale looks alright but could have been way better, again looks thin...

    Sumo DTS drill. Opinions please

We demoed a DTS in 2015 alongside a Mzuri, and bought the Mzuri. Haven't regretted it. Might be worth looking into, a mounted one would be most cost effective although the trailed ones offer quite a bit more.

    Sumo DTS drill. Opinions please

What size tractor do you have, and are you on many steep hills?

    State of your crops -2022

Our winter barley is easily looking to be our worst ever. Pretty sure our spring barley will do better, and that's on the thin side.

Cereals - anything/anybody there? Worth going?

Went on Wednesday, and it was a good show, plenty of visitors.

    Getting dry

Our winter barley on sand is an abomination. No proper rain in April, no proper rain in May. Came out of winter with plenty of potential, been grim to witness. Our spring barley might out yield it.

    Bought a FJD kit

Ahhh. Think they're working on that. @ERH Services Ltd will know.

    Bought a FJD kit

The steering wheel feels better than it looks to be fair. It's probably more comfortable than the JD one that it replaced. The FJ logo might not be to everyone's tastes but it's not something I worry about.

    Bought a FJD kit

Back in the winter I bought a FJD RTK retro fit kit and finally got round to installing it recently. Got a chance to use it the other day drilling maize into rye stubble and it's awesome. Not really a GPS expert so wanted something simple and modular, no point paying for functions that I'm never...

    SFI Pilot payments

Agreement started here in November. Received second payment a day or two ago. But I can't get the stupid DEFRA sharepoint website to work, on multiple devices, so I can't interact or agree to sign up to their workshops or anything.

    Getting dry

Well... this confirms my suspicions that Norfolk and Suffolk are now the hardest parts of the UK to grow crops... We get rain off the North Sea in the Autumn, and nothing in the Spring.

    Absolutely nothing in South Norfolk!

Don't really have any experience of that, but I plan on still using the mzuri for all heavy arable fields. Bought the Erth mainly for grass work but hopefully will do more arable experiments with it this Autumn.

Yep, also found that, wheat after grass on clay definitely had poor emergence due having to sink the dual coulter in deep to get soil cover, but then it is under too thick a wad of soil to make it through. More shallow and you get peeling like you say. Wheat after oats drilled with the Erth...

Mzuri drilled? Looks awesome. I am definitely less afraid to drill wheat at 33cm rows now, although the combine may say otherwise

    Forage Crops

Performer forage rye drilled 10th September Cutting today First time growing it and it could be very valuable as the grass is extremely poor in this part of South Norfolk this year.
