After drying off 50 cows on Tuesday all with sealant and/or antibiotics that would have been averaging no more than 10L i am yet again frustrated with the amount of milk leakage
Makes me wonder if sealant is actually necessary
Usually seen as a ball ache
With some dairies insisting on a more level supply and the unavoidable cash flow yoyo, is running a split block herd that bad
Two 9 week blocks wouldn't have to overlap in breeding or calving
But are there issues with in parlour feeding unless individual feeding is...
Try to upload a pic, every time it comes up with a message saying unable to perform action due to low memory
I have loads of spare memory, if I try 5 or 6 times it eventually let's me do it

Our scraper tractor, Ford 4000, might be a 4600🤔 has a hydraulic foible
If it is facing uphill the arms don't always lift up, unless the clutch is lifted and brake pedal pressed, the incline doesn't have to be much, and it never happens when facing downhill
There's plenty of oil in it

Anyone got a rough idea how many tonnes of shale per foot/meter on a cow track?
I'm looking at 15ft wide but unsure as to the depth of shale required for a good stable surface
My dieci telehandler has plant based 46 hydraulic oil
It's bloody expensive and not always in stock
Been told I can't mix it with normal hydraulic oil
Anyone have a different opinion?
Cheers
Is there a substantial gain from having shorter grazing breaks?
Other than in wet weather will there be big enough gain in a 12 or 24 hour break, to justify major infrastructure expenditure on water, tracks, access etc?
