I’ve got some second wheat questions:
1. Are there any varieties that are best suited to being a second wheat?
2. Is Latitude needed when a second wheat is drilled as late as January?
3. what kind of seed rates should be used for second wheat drilled in Dec/Jan? I would normally be at around...
Wow, that was quiet! Last time I went was in 2018 and it seems to be a shadow of the show it used to be.
Nice to get out and chat to a few people on stands though.
Thanks to the kind people who gave me a lift back to Fowlmere airfield. I don’t really know who you were, other than you’re...
Duxford is close, but Fowlmere is closer.
I’ve already paid my landing fee anyway.
If anyone sees me jaywalking when they’re a mile or two from the car park, let me jump in!
I’m planning on going tomorrow.
If anyone is passing Fowlnere airfield at around 1030, I’ll swap a nice bottle of Merlot for a lift in…! It’s only about 5 minutes drive away from the show, but a 25 minute walk.
Just to say, if anyone is needing new nozzles etc for the Spring, I can highly recommend calling Neil, at Simpers Trade Counter.
I called yesterday, and within an hour of ringing, my nozzles were packed up and on their way.
I’ve never met Neil, and this is not advertising. Just a bit of...

@warksfarmer is spot on about scorch risks being much much lower this early in the season. Don’t worry about it until you get to the higher UV days of April/May, and when the crops are doing rapid growth and are much fleshier.
As for wind, if you keep the pressure up through...
If you do, whack it just before a wet spell, with plenty of N under it. It’ll still fail, but at least we can’t tell you that you sid something wrong. :-)
@willy - the recommendation is to have row spacing as close as possible with spring wheat due to it not tillering anything like winter wheat. I’d say the Vaddy is your best bet.
I’ve put in 240 acres of Cochise in the last 2 weeks. Another 100 to go in before end of Feb.
Has anyone tried either of these two legs/tubes from APM? I like the hard facing on the side of one, and the bolt-on side wall on the other. For me, these are appealing due to the wear level I get in my stone. I haven’t used either of them, and am just considering it.
Just wondering if anyone...
I had a dreadful experience with Fibrophos from start to finish.I really don’t know why people bother. Dreadful stuff, dreadful people, and dreadful results.
