    Probably not allowed but B&B pigs are a quick turnaround on cash. Mate of mine took on a small tenancy, concreted a shed and seems to be doing pretty well now. Muck for straw with someone.

    That is the problem with farming, it is too capital heavy for the meagre return. Most businesses sinking that kind of capital expect quicker and much more profitable payback.

    A big drive to more locally produced food would do most for the planet but will people change their ways? Hard to see when price is always the biggest factor.

    Would be some very good first cut up here in Yorkshire but anything on more marginal and lighter land is suffering now. Hardly any rain in last 3 months. Crops look ok at the moment but will be losing some potential now.

    Drove over skipton way yesterday to a wedding and very little grass about, especially grazing. Always a rich grass area around there.
