Hi all
I’m looking for a reliable hot pressure washer single or 3 phase, want something that you can get parts for in the future. We don’t have big usage, probably 2hrs a week on average, but want something that will last!
What are peoples thoughts on good ones and ones to avoid! Obviously don’t...
3yr ley (20% clover) cut three times a year for silage only when suitable to travel. Pig slurry on once two of the years at 20m3/ha and digestate on one year at 40m3/Ha. FYM at approx 20t/ha this September, harrowed after a week then drilled at 250kg/ha of Crusoe with a weaving gd the double...
Have you got any more info on this? sounds like it’s been one of my many many disasters with DDing WW into 3yr grass let this Autumn! Drilled late September in the dry and then had 2” of rain in 24hrs a week later, only the shaded headlands which I guess had more moisture have done any good…...
Hi all
I’m just direct drilling for the 2nd time WW (Frit-fly) into a field coming out of a 3yr grass/clover ley. (Separate issue I’ll need some advice on
The problem I have is the surface seams to not be drying out and when I dig down I’ve got fantastic structure from 2” down to spade head...
Straw was £100/t this year, plus I know my own straw is mainly blackgrass free! Dry ground conditions at harvest and it’s not a problem, I’m doing some targeted Ld subsoiling this autumn to hopefully rectify some of the issues (plus hopefully plenty of mole ploughing) the worse fields this...
Does such thing exists? I know all farms and soils are different but the 10 top critical points would be very helpful for many people.
Where I’m struggling is that we’re a small mixed farm and getting straw off in a wet year always makes a mess (turning, baling, stacking and then loading) and...
Really!? It’s ok once you’ve started your Union for £50-100, I’m sure that you can give Liz Truss, George Eustice and Keir a quick ring to do some meaningful lobbying. Plus I’m sure no10 will let you in for a direct meeting with BoJo.
I’ll repeat, I’m not defending everything the NFU does but...
A little bit of realism is required here I feel, we have all benefited from the NFUs work, farming has never been in the public eye for the right reasons as much as it has in the last 5yrs thanks to the NFU (though there is much more they could/should do) do a few thousand disgruntled farmers...
For the size of our industry the NFU has massive “clout” compared the other similar industries? Just look who they have had direct talks/meetings with in the last few months. If we all bin the NFU can you imagine how much worse all the reforms that will be pushed through whilst a small group of...
I had a very positive experience with Weaving, I rang for a demo a couple of months prior to drilling, when the time came I got a phone call saying they would be in the area next week and did I still want a demo, they turned up and drilled four fields for me, it was getting quite late and they...
Thanks, it works out to approx 9kg DM of grass. The problem I’ve got is when I used to feed the cows straight Haylage they ate too much, and I can’t let the grass bulk out without it going to seed and I’m putting the ley back into wheat next year.
Sorry I tried to explain (badly) that I don’t want higher protein but when I add rolled oats just before calving they will bring the level down as they’re only 11% so will bring the level back up with soya/rapemeal.
Sorry I probably didn’t explain my situation very well! The problem is my silage/Haylage is too good to give the cows straight, hence why I have to mix straw in (normally put more straw in but v short this year) so I’m looking for a whole crop that I can grow that is bulky and not too rich to...
