How do you carry your reels and posts?

I like that, never seen em before. Brought a container over in September, should have thrown a couple in.

How do you carry your reels and posts?

Yeah I have also had them the other way but if stacked correctly there is no issue. Nothing really beats walking but once the farm is a certain size it’s no longer practical.

How do you carry your reels and posts?

Glad it is working for you. Lots of people like them but I sure don’t. Not that 4 wheelers are much better but they do run cheaper. Gas is cheaper than diesel here. I’m sure if it was mainly just me running it I could make anything last 10 years. Trying to instill that same value structure...

How do you carry your reels and posts?

The purchase price and cost of ownership are way too high. Had a pioneer here that was an absolute money pit. Also ran Polaris on other operations and have not been impressed. Don’t get much for what they cost.

How do you carry your reels and posts?

With a box would there be enough room for my assistant to ride?

Do most combines lift headers high enough to go over gateposts?

Backed a combine through a lot of narrow gates with the header on. The distance between the outside of the wheel on one side to the end of the header on the other( plus a foot) determines if it’ll go. Depending on width it really works well if header can be raised up really high on tilt. A...

How do you carry your reels and posts?

How does everyone with a four wheeler carry their reels and posts? I have tried a couple ways in the past but it usually breaks due to rough lanes/vibrations/poor driving. Currently this is what we do. Zip tied some tarp straps to the rack to hold the reels on.

Are straw choppers really worth it?

Doesn’t anyone use a manure spreader to spread straw? Used to do it on the home farm. Don’t really use bedding anymore

    10,000 hour plus tractors

7430 here with just under 14k. It’s worn out a loader already. It’s had a very hard life. Motor and transmission untouched. 7230 with 12k, also a loader tractor. Also had a very hard life. Motor and transmission untouched. At my family’s farm nothing has less than 10k or newer than’76...

Damn. If milking cows and raising heifers required that much money in buildings I definitely wouldn’t want to milk cows. That place is spotless, props to them

    John Deere 155M vs 140M

I don’t know what is available on M vs R. Our 6170R had axle suspension but not cab. 6155M has cab but not axle. I didn’t order them unfortunately.

    John Deere 155M vs 140M

We had a 2014 6170R here (6155M replaces it) and still have a 7200r. The 6170 was an absolute money pit. Constantly throwing codes and breaking down, constant regeneration problems, every time something small broke it was a visit from the mechanic at $150/hr and $4/mile travel time. It was...

    John Deere 155M vs 140M

Running two 6155Ms here on the adjoining farms. They are mainly loader tractors with summer work on mowers, hauling bales etc. I wouldn’t go smaller, why make something struggle? We should have gone with 175 so they could run the mixer wagon as well. They seem an ok tractor so far, only 1300...
