    Classics Earning their keep.

I think I recognise that trailer. If it's the one I think it is his lorry would be well suited to this thread.

    Kiss The Ground

One thing I thought it was a bit farmer bashy in the beginning. It's not all farmers fault that the pursuit of cheap food had led to where we are now. Everyone who eats food grown on a conventional farm is to blame not just the farmers they are the ones voting with their wallets. And government...

    Kiss The Ground

looks like he has lost a bit of weight in the film though  He blames travelling and eating shite food in airports and on planes I think I heard him say somewhere.

I hate lambing indoors but lambing outside in snow or sleet is worse. Older ewes you would probably get away with but hoggs is jistt asking for trouble with you have somewhere you can put them under cover for a day or two.

    Biological barrier for sheep

Isn't there something you can spray on arable crops to stop deer and rabbits grazing it? I remember seeing as advert for it in farmers weekly years ago but don't know what it was or what it was called.

Farmer Roy's Random Thoughts - I never said it was easy.

There seems to be more controlled burning on the hills here than there used to be even 10 years ago. And a lot more strips topped to give the place some green and variety possibly even a fire break but mostly for grazing I think. Common sense has prevailed at last hopefully it will in other...

Well I'm the 4th here and I'd say the rot already has started with my dad. (Not his fault just bad luck and poor decisions from other family members and some bad advice) I sure as sh!t am not going to lose it though!

My pumpkins have taken over as well. They are flowering over 6 foot away from where I planted them on the downhill side which explains why the rest of my stuff was smothered. The potatoes on the uphill side were left alone though. They seem to have just fallen over that way and kept going. I...

Not Quite Farm Engineering or a Quick Bodge.

Ours never did much because it could only be used from the plug that was wired to where the milking parlour was. Dad always assumed he couldn't weld but he just wasn't giving it enough power for fear of blowing the trips again or welding scrap because he didn't want to mess up good steel with...

@Farmer Roy no more pet steer? We have some no till pumpkins growing here with some potatoes and sweetcorn (there was more but they didn't thrive on neglect and didn't like pumpkins smothering them) I'll take some pictures when they are ready they are quite big. I killed the grass with a...

We have a pickhill bantam. At least I think that's what it is it sounds familiar. It's been relegated to battery charging for the last 15 years when we got an inverter. Much better welder I think I can actually use it without making all the trips going off 🤣

Not sure but I have seen it and seen grasses with 4 or more leaves that are all fine too 🤷‍♂️

It's made worse because land value is hugely inflated by politics and tax reasons. Then they want a 'return on capital' as the land is worth that much and land agents tell them they can get X% returns on it or whatever. Not the lands fault that it's worth so much :cautious:

What would happen if you grazed so you had the dying 4th leaf in the rotation as well and used that to replace the hay? They say you shouldn't let the 4th leaf come up or it kills the first leaf in the tiller and decreases the quality of the grazing. But otf your having to feed hay anyway when...
