Low emission spreading equipment needed for nitrates legislation. 2020 for digestate, June 2020 for derogated farms, all contractors 2021 & farms over 200 livestock units from 2022.
We seem to be in a very small minority of derogated farms actually doing it by the books. I suppose the inspectors...
July price, at least for Dale Farm producers was below last years(25), the 5 year average (24.9) and the 9 year average (24.9). I think that's a reasonable case to argue, even if the case isn't as strong as for the first round & we can be thankful some of the worst predictions didn't happen.
The beef payments are going to the owner of the animals at the point where the price dropped, not to the person the meat plant paid. In most cases that means it'll actually go where it should, that's quite a novel idea for the dept.
He's talking about the Corona bounce back loan, up to £50k for 6 years. 1st year interest free then fixed at 2.5%. it'll save at least £2500 over the term unless you can get an exceptionally good deal from your bank.
It was 18% before, this year it's 17. The oil level is high that's what pushes the fat down. It also means it's high energy which "should" help fertility, I'm not sure if it makes much difference one way or the other.
Ours has dropped to 3.2 this year, even buffer feeding hasn't lifted it. On the other hand the iodine value has stuck at 39-40. In other years we hit 42-43 & fat stayed above 3.6, they're milking better than ever this year that may be the cause. Without the 3.7 base it wouldn't be working for us...
The only thing that worked here for Strep Uberis is Mamzyn injections, and then not much more than 50% of the time. I think you can theoretically get tubes too but neither is available at our vets at the minute. I'm treating one with Permacyl at the minute, it's supposed to be the same stuff...
1.5 bags in March
1 bag late April
1 bag late May
I think the grass hasn't taken up the application from 2 weeks ago at all, lower lying ground has greened a little in the last few days, the drier bits not so much.
So little grass it doesn't show up [emoji6].
I'll try again
The cows are grazing silage ground, 5 weeks regrowth & stronger than ideal, buffer feeding as well. The heifers are getting silage in the field too.
