So good old Mancozeb has been served notice and will not be reapproved for use. Such a shame as a good reliable multi-site backbone for late blight and alternaria control. Mancozeb will be surely missed as European growers have already broken Zorvec and CAA chemistry for late blight control...

    Fumitory in carrots.

Sencorex is highly effective at killing parsnips. Use a mix of emerger 0.3 L/ha + defy 0.3 L/ha on your parsnips, but just beware that you may find this causes some blackening around the edges of your parsnips.

A question for Brussel Sprout growers

I would go with rows at 32" apart Stuart, as I can see disease being an absolute nightmare to control at 16" rows, the foliage would be very dense and diseases/aphids would go ballistic. I used to plant at 16" inter plant spacings on 28" rows and that worked ok. 4 blades in the stripper head -...

What model Ransome is this please

Nothing wrong with Ransomes TS 90, I learn to plough with one behind a Ford 4000. Easier plough to pull than I moved onto later. UCN bodies produce good furrows. You want some good sharp soil to clean the boards up and get them shining. Do you have any disc Coulter's for this plough - if...

That for Extase and Dawsum Phil ? A lot of other varieties appear to have a shed load of septoria in the arse of the crop.

Univoq looks very good value compared to the offering from the German manufacturers camp. Shame that it has been known to fuk sprayers.

If you think that the Chlormequat is dear, wait until you find out the prices for fungicide - typically 25% to 33% increase on last year.

A question for Brussel Sprout growers

Yes - Petrus is top class sprout but I would plant mid-May to get some extra height on it. If your running short it can be picked for Christmas, but holds really well into new year. Lovely dark green buttons, and good flavour. The foliage slopes like a Christmas tree during winter which...

Confidence in Uk Ag the next 5yrs

Another 8 years until I hang my boots up. There will be a different govt in 2 years time, although what will that possibly change ? And there are still 60'odd million people to feed everyday in this country. No farmers = no food.
