    Odd request - sheep's pelvis?

Thanks - that's a little far away. I'm near Welshpool, Powys. Will obvioulsy collect if nearby, otherwise was hoping someone would have an old, picked over, dry pelvis that we could get off with posting!

    Odd request - sheep's pelvis?

Obviously nobody here ever loses a sheep, cos we're all such great farmers. But just in case (perhaps someone else's ewe wandered onto your land and died in a corner...) Does anyone happen to have a full sized ewe's pelvis in reasonably intact condition lying around anywhere? We're running...

    Too much clover?

A little unsure about grazing this in case we get bloat! Suckler cows and weaned lambs should be heading in here on next rotation. They have a lot less clover in their other fields. This field was cut for silage 2-3 weeks ago, and had 20:8:14 applied afterwards. (Our P & K levels were low on...

Parking stands for old chilton MX loader

Looking for a set of parking stands for a Chilton MX 4085 (red) loader, early 1990s. The detachable arms used to support the loader to allow it to be removed from the tractor. Anyone out there got a set lying around? Or have a good idea where I might get some?

Rolled barley for pigs - soak or not?

We've just been given a nice pile of rolled barley, to feed to the pigs. They are free range GOS crosses, usually on sow breeder nuts - I was planning to build up to maybe 1/3 rolled barley. Does that sound OK? And does it need to be soaked before feeding, or is the rolling enough? I'm...

    Bravoxin timing

Due to various delays (!) our cattle have started their first ever bravoxin course this month. They will be due the 2nd vaccine after 14th July, but ideally I'd like to put the bull in with them now. So some of them would (hopefully) be in the very early stages of pregnancy when 2nd dose is...

    Would we be mad?

But thank you for your answer to my madness question!

    Would we be mad?

No space at all.... and it floods! Not viable to expand and keep more stock there - evacuating our small flock/herd was bad enough.

    Would we be mad?

Our current smallholding is probably not a great property for rental - but we'd sell it, buy a low maintenance house in town to rent out, so as to stay in the property market and have some additional income. The farm in question is a council let - anyone any experience with the council as landlords?

    Would we be mad?

Fed up trying to run a farm from a smallholding! (4 acres at home and additional 14 acres elsewhere, but no useable yard/buildings for winter) A farm tenancy may be available - 100 acres with proper yard/sheds. Considering selling up and renting. What are your thoughts? One of us has a...

    Chilton loader - any good?

Thank you everyone! Looks like we're going ahead - Chilton loader with euro bracket headstock. Best of both worlds, hopefully!

    Chilton loader - any good?

Looking at a new (secondhand) tractor and have found one we like, but it has a chilton loader on. (had hoped for a Quicke with euro brackets!) Not familiar with these - are they any good, will I easily find secondhand implements with correct brackets, and is it easy enough to find spares if...

    Topping?

Ha ha! My significant other will be pleased to hear that he is not required to spend a day topping fields, and will be directed towards some other jobs instead....

    Topping?

Looking for some advice from people who have more experience of managing grassland than me! Our fields are almost bare after so much dry weather, but in some we have long dry stalks of seedheads, with virtually no leafy growth below. (these were fields that were undergrazed in Spring, went to...
