For the frugal. Do minerals expire?

I have just been into the local Mole Valley and, as is my want, bought 250 selenium and cobalt sheep boluses at 75% off. I have done this sort of thing many times in the past with things like blocks, boluses and minerals. I have always operated under the assumption that in a dried, powdered form...

First one seen yesterday, it brought a bit of hope along with it.

    Lambing losses.

As if to prove a point, I get up this morning, I find an in lamb hogg in the shed on her back, she later pushed out 2 aborted lambs. Then I go out to the field and find the sheep had flipped over the trough and trapped 2 lamb under there that had presumably been there for 24 hours or more. One...

    Lambing losses.

Around 15% sounds accurate. I have made my peace with whatever number it ends up at. I do my best, try and learn year on year. As long as I am happy with the effort and thought I put into it the rest is a roll of the dice. I persevere with weak lambs and non doers but the eventual outcome is...

Silage / Straw / Hay Price Tracker

What's good quality, late summer wrapped round bale haylage worth currently, per bale? I have a surplus and might as well shift it. I am told that conserved forage is now short here in the South West which I thought surprising.

    Openreach wayleave

From my research it was around £10/pole/Yr. But that didn't come from anyone who was actually in an agreement. My one never actually ended up happening because they made a mistake as to where they were putting the post.

    Openreach wayleave

Following a car accident that snapped a telegraph pole, Openreach want to relocate said pole onto my land. What is the going rate for this and how much should I be asking? The line caters for hundreds of people. Thanks.

    Idiots guide to Milwaukee.....

Quick question... what do you all do with your expired power tools? Smash out the motors and scrap? Straight to the tip? I am building quite a collection and am wanting to have a clear out. It seems a shame to lose all of the components but I can't see an alternative to the above choices.

11 yr old lad new school few friends - is there any hope?

Music seems like a good plan. Or drama for that matter. I never did either but was always very jealous of the crowd that did. Especially with drama, it gave the lads that did it a huge amount of female friends which could serve him and his confidence very well in his teen years. They always...

    Applying for a Firearms Licence.

OK. So my situation is that my father has become very ill and could pass away at any point. I am applying to avoid any complications in this eventuality. Can I just put all of his details (guns, gun storage, security, ammo location and usage, etc) on my application?

    Applying for a Firearms Licence.

Hi all. I am currently applying for my firearms certificate as we speak. I share a house with my old man who has a lisence, a question on the form asks if you share security arrangements with anyone. Is it simpler if I just have my own cabinet etc or can I just share his? Also, should I avoid...

    Sheep in !

In ideal conditions I would usually leave them out 7 - 10 days before due date, for all of the reasons you suggest. For now, I would imagine listeria and weather stress are the greatest danger to them.

    Sheep in !

Mine coming in this week. Feb lambing. Doesn't matter if the weather changes, the land will take some drying out now. Hopefully the ewes with lambs at foot will see the benefits of that in spring. When i brought them all into the yard for scanning last week, they lined up at the lambing house...

Raising drawbar height on small trailer

Good to know. Thanks. Is that type of modification road legal?

Raising drawbar height on small trailer

This is really the only trailer I have that would require adjustment. The cattle box is new and the correct height. Adjustable bracket is possible. Does that have a weight restriction at all?

Raising drawbar height on small trailer

What are the legalities of goosenecks and suchlike on trailer drawbars? I have a small sheep trailer that was the right height for my old Subaru Forester but since moving to a pickup it runs on the back axle alone. It is a handy little trailer and I don't want to give it up. It needs to come up...

    VW kombi van

I know somebody who has their van down as a comfort unit (or whatever they are called), basically something with a stove in and somewhere to sit down for breaks. That went past the tax man fine. Others who have holiday cottages say they might need to use it to transport disabled holiday makers...
