    BPS reduction chart

The 80’s have gone and I would like to think we’ve got a little bit more sensible since then. I for one wouldn’t spend a week in a car factory to then turn round and produce cheap food at cost for the world on weekends - got to be abit of an idiot to do so.

    BPS reduction chart

Interesting reading. In the higher £150k bracket, where we will be for payments 2021, 22 & 23? Is there a percent format being followed on an annual basis does anybody know?

    Vaderstad carrier alternative

I have owned several short discs, and know the downsides of all. Simba xpress 700mm dd rings are too far apart -misses clods leaves it rough, good on light land though. Vaderstad carrier classic style bounces, and you can’t get weight on ends of wings as there’s no down pressure. Vaderstad...

So where would the first wheat area come from in year 2 other than the 12.5% beans?

    Dutch openers, horsch sprinter

When you have fun changing the yellow plastic wings you will see why we’ve all gone Dutch. Dutch are cheaper to run. If you wish to drill undressed seed the only way is to use bean tubes. I may even cut the pipes off my the back of my Dutch openers and fit wider ones so I don’t have to use bean...

    trimble 1050 vs 750 lite

You can transfer lines from a Cfx750 to a 1050 absolutely fine as I have done so. On line the Cfx more accurate than the new gfx/1050

    150 acres

Yes agree. Anybody who knows there exact cost will know how easy it is to clock up £150/acre in costs even if doing the job correctly using a nice min till system. When you sign on that dotted line for 3 years prepare yourself for that last year too as from past experience that will be the most...

    Dutch openers, horsch sprinter

@warksfarmer 5” Dutch will give the same row appearance as duet u would struggle to see the difference. The Downside of the duet is the yelllow wear plates and rivets. The downside of the Dutch is it likes clean seed (unlikely to drill straight off heap). Dutch openers are cheaper to run.

    150 acres

If it is applicable, in these times the landlord should keep that aside from the rent (most will anyway). Gone are the days where anybody can rely on that to top up the rent.

    150 acres

I don’t see how that is to do with anything if anything only makes it more complicated

    150 acres

Too low. In a s2s you would need to be at least £150 to carry the job out properly and at least help pay for replacement machinery, labour and fuel cost.

    Stubble to stubble contract.

Childish remarks about tidy farms let’s try and get back to the subject In hand. There are other factors which have to be brought into the cost. The amount of paperwork involved from the contractors point of view is pretty immense. Lots of invoicing for quarterly charges. Moling, hedging...

    Stubble to stubble contract.

Absolutely not, but I would never use it as an excuse to join them. I have never gained land A) being the highest bidder for rent or B) being the lowest bidder for a S2S. If I was in that category I would be more concerned than not having it at all.

Low prices are never done properly. without losing money it’s physically impossible

    Stubble to stubble contract.

True, but I can earn £14-15/hr sitting in somebody else’s sprayer. If that’s better money than sitting in my own gear then so be it.

    Stubble to stubble contract.

Dont you believe it. It’s like saying any lowest priced plumber, builder, painter etc gets the job, how the job is done overrules any of that as with all walks of life.

    Stubble to stubble contract.

That doesn’t mean you take there risk for them though!

    Stubble to stubble contract.

To many people on here need to get a grip as to where agriculture is today. 1) There is no cheap machinery, ring up any machinery dealer the prices are frightening. 2) Parts service and repairs, tyres, again frightening costs. 3) £90/hr service technician costs from dealers are the norm! 4)...

    Stubble to stubble contract.

Needs to be £140 acre, if not the risk is being carried in the profits share. If you want risk, then renting is the answer.
