Its funny because I have actively advertised looking for work with no restrictions on what I would do and have very little joy
I've not had a single dairy or beef farmer approach me with work, so I am currently very reliant on the few contacts I have worked for
I've advertised multiple times...
I guess we all do what we do because of our passion,
I guess I'm still learning the financial struggle regardless of scale
What is it with this country and the farming industry and the struggle, its very frustrating
If I'm completely honest, Shropshire has been a very backwards county in terms of skills to value for as long as I know, the lowest paying county I have worked in,
I have earned an average of £2.00/HR more in Cheshire, £4.00/hr more in Norfolk, £1.50/hr more average everywhere else.
Don't ask...
I can imagine there is work there, just not in the areas I can afford to commute too
My main source of employment is about a 60 minute one way commute
The potato planting job is about 35 minute one way commute
Until January this year I was charging £13/hr to be informed by my accountant...
Exactly,
There is no way I would turn up for a farm and be paid to do a bad job, that's not my style, I take a huge amount of pride in my work.
And even I know in this day and age farmers couldn't afford to pay someone to turn up and go home having achieved nothing with their day
So as we are all aware the weather patterns we are seeing are becoming a little more extreme
We are all losing days/weeks due to bad weather.
For me I seem to lose more and more working days each year for the last few years due to bad weather, this is obviously having a knock on effect in...
So the way I see it from personal experience is your always going to struggle for good staff flow in the future
I'm 29 and over the last few years myself and other (committed full timers) are being driven nuts by workers that drag their arses, show up hungover, don't want to commit when the time...

A few months ago I got hold of a trailer/generator chassis and for a while I wasn't sure what to do with it.
To start with a put a portable fuel cube on it but then I came up with the idea of a utility trailer, basically a way to double the capacity of the pickup with lockable storage and heavy...
It's very rare that I would 'big myself up' but when a team of 12+ men from cadent were needing to do major gas line work in one of the fields needed assistance in moving equipment to the location I was there to help, not only did I assist in moving their equipment but when their compressor and...
Well, like everyone around the country we have been battling some extremely wet field conditions. It's given plenty of time for maintenance and a few contracting jobs.
The 724 working hard and coping very well with a wide variety of work.
As we progressed into harvest, just like 2022 I Lost the John Deere this year and it was replaced with a Fendt 724, not that I'm complaining as the comfort id better than a deere.
The straw season was drawn out with the weather,
At one point I was without a loader so I decided to use the spare spikes to mover 4 at a time which saved me a lot of time in the field
A quick release adapter for the loader so that I can tow ball hitch and ring hitch trailers.
I have already though of a much more finessed version that I will probably make this winter
