    Blues on jersey crosses

Well, NewPole Remarkable Pp left the farm today heading for Cogent, along with NewPole Reggie, both out of NewPole Harriet. Remarkable was naturally calved out of his South Devon recip dam. Hopefully they both pass their calving surveys over the coming months.

Sorry missed this too. would agree with @Purli R re muscling etc although Ideale Blackbeard, who is homozygous for polled, does throw more muscle. We’ve a baby white/blue bull calf out of NewPole Harriet (Kojack, Kudos, etc) by him, who is looking pretty promising (already optioned). It was nice...

Is that a wise choice? The difference between breed classes and fatstock/commercial classes is surely your breed entries are just that - breeding stock ? Not animals that are fit to go? It takes a very, very, experienced butcher to be objective enough to recognise their should be a difference ...

It was the ‘O’ year. We were being sarcastic when we named him! As in NewPole.......Obviously !

    Blues on jersey crosses

Actually, he was but out of a recip so maybe not as ’remarkable’ as a naturally calved bull out of a pure Belgian cow which everyone says never happens !

Well, I hope these two do well for Cogent and all using the bulls. Our latest press release ! Top one is Obviously. We are very pleased to report that both NewPole Nice One and NewPole Obviously are on the Cogent roster. Both by the Cogent bull, NewPole Icon, Nice One is a naturally calved son...

    Blues on jersey crosses

I think calving problems can and will occur with any breed. Many are forgetting or maybe just don’t realise that even in Belgium, the land of the c-section, there has been tremendous pressure and also the will to reduce sections and for the crossing bulls, ie white bulls on dairy cows, great...

Literally a couple of hours ago just had Genus lorry in to pick up their next bull from us, so 🤞🤞 he does a good job. The comments about Kojak are interesting and we’ve two full sisters here that will come on stream to our breeding programme later this year, so we will be very careful indeed as...

Sorry, missed this as haven’t been on here for a few weeks. Red or reddish calves at a month or two months old? i know neither Easy nor Easy/Harriet bulls (ie Kojak etc) carry red genes, so I’m guessing that in a few months those calves will coat out black and that will be down to your cow...

Merry Christmas from all at NewPole Blues

Easy certainly did a great job for Genus, as did his maternal half brother, Chalky White for Semex. Sure Kojak will follow his sire.

I think Nice One will be in the ‘slightly stronger’ calf section for Cogent. He’s an N Icon son out of one of our Belgian import cows. Naturally calved and should defo have short gestation.

In the photo, Pearlescent and Ovation are full sisters to Kojak, Oh So Easy & Pretty Easy are Easy full sisters, plus one other Harriet daughter, Pure and the Belgian import heifer, Opportunité and Precious, a naturally calved N. Lomu / N Feisty daughter, so we’ve hopefully some good raw...

    Sexed semen

interesting comments and conception rates. We do use a fair bit of sexed semen on the ped blues and the Newlands dairy herd relies heavily on female sexed to get replacement dairy heifers but it’s not a high performance / high yielding Holstein or similar herd, so comparisons are probably...

    Blues on jersey crosses

We can’t because we’re a High Health Herd - we’d have to have two registered separate holdings, with full isolation facilities, for our white bulls, so it makes it very difficult. We’ve a few going to Genus too. If we had the money, not saying we’d wouldn’t go for that but don’t have that sort...

I know they rate LinchPin highly, so use with confidence he’ll do the job well for you ! Cogent have three on calving survey currently from us - NewPole Nice One, Notable and Obviously. last two are full brothers by their former AI bull, NewPole Icon out of NewPole Easy’s full sister, NewPole...

Not this time, flushing for us then she’s contracted for an Irish company. She doesn’t flush large numbers, which we prefer as they usually stick better. We only use Male se Ed semen on her for contract flushes now, so this flush is using conventional as we domt mind getting daughters from her...

Sorry haven’t logged on for a while! Glad to hear the NewPole boys are doing the job well for you. We’re flushing our top cows next week and will be using a polled white bull, Daim, on Harriet, dam of Kudos, Kojack etc. so fingers crossed she flushes well and we can implant some..
